The ProCell Surgical Sponge Blood Recovery Device significantly reduces costs in surgical settings. It achieves an average 37% reduction in lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels compared to traditional hand-wringing methods, ensuring enhanced blood quality and recovery. When combined with your existing cell saver equipment, ProCell® maximizes the volume of recoverable blood, decreasing your reliance on costly blood transfusions.

Did you know donor blood transfusions are the most common hospital procedures? With only 3% of the US population donating blood, it becomes scarce and costly, ranging from $225 to $1,300 USD per unit. To reduce reliance on donor blood, autotransfusion reinfuses a patient’s own lost blood, capturing up to 60%. Surgical sponges absorb up to 100 mL of blood each, and rinsing them in saline can remove 95% of red blood cells. However, this process is labor-intensive and often resisted by staff. Did you know that donor blood transfusions are the most common procedures performed in hospitals? Yet, with only 3% of the US population donating blood, it becomes both scarce and costly, ranging from $225 to $1,300 USD per unit. To alleviate this reliance on donor blood, autotransfusion allows for the reinfusion of a patient’s own lost blood by hand-wringing surgical sponges. Unfortunately, this manual process is labor-intensive and often met with resistance from staff. 💡Enter ProCell®: an innovative solution that eliminates sponge hand-wringing, simplifying blood recovery and enhancing patient care. Put an end to hand-wringing, one drop of blood at a time🩸 #HealthcareInnovation #BloodTransfusion #ProCell #PatientCare #SurgicalSolutions

PBM programs are gaining traction across the United States but like most initiatives, it takes education and collaboration amongst many key players in the hospital environment to launch a successful program. POC testing plays a role, and I’m hopeful that in 2025 we’ll be smarter and wiser with our blood conservation, which will only lead to greater progress in the years and decades ahead. Patients recovering their own blood during surgery with the help of ProCell® often experience better postoperative outcomes for several reasons: 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆: Using self-donated blood eliminates the risks associated with receiving donor blood, such as allergic reactions, infections, and blood type incompatibility, leading to a safer surgical experience. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀: Autotransfusion with ProCell® allows for better preservation of the patient’s red blood cells and plasma, which can expedite recovery and reduce the length of hospital stays. 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝘅𝘆𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: By reinfusing their own blood, patients maintain better oxygen-carrying capacity, which is crucial for tissue healing and overall recovery following surgery. 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀: Studies indicate that patients who utilize autotransfusion often experience fewer postoperative complications, such as infections or transfusion-related adverse events, contributing to overall better health outcomes. 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹𝘀: The use of autologous blood fits well within enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols, promoting faster return to normal activity and reducing the stress response associated with surgery. 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲: ProCell® can help create tailored blood management strategies, ensuring each patient receives the most effective care based on their individual needs. 𝗣𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁: Knowing that they are receiving their own blood can alleviate anxiety for patients, adding a layer of psychological reassurance that can contribute to a smoother recovery process. Overall, ProCell's commitment to intraoperative autotransfusion effectively enhances patient outcomes, providing a safer, more efficient, and personalized surgical experience.
