Although our solution makes egg protein production sustainable, it doesn't mean this is where we stop. At PoLoPo, we recognize that true #sustainability encompasses every aspect of our operations, including the cultivation of the potatoes we use. That's why we're proud to announce our membership in the Potato Sustainability Alliance (PSA). The PSA is a collaborative network of growers, supply chain partners, non-profit organizations, and advisors dedicated to enhancing the economic, environmental, and social aspects of potato production. By joining this alliance, we commit to advancing sustainable practices throughout the entire potato value chain, ensuring that our innovations benefit both people and the planet.
About us
PoLoPo is developing a plant bio-factory for high scale, custom-made production of proteins. Our first candidate is egg protein (ovalbumin) in an edible plant. Using directed metabolic engineering techniques, while exploiting the full potential of plants as diverse metabolite and green protein factories, we create a “superAA” plant. The superAA is able to produce considerable high amounts of free amino-acids. The elevated production of amino-acids is then translated into high scale production of proteins in plant organs. On the second phase we use superAA plants as the basic plants for the creation of a new set of plants, expressing and accumulating the target protein (such as egg protein) in plant sink organs

A sneak peek to the core of PoLoPo - Celebrating 100 Transformations! In PoLoPo, the transformation is a process where we "teach" our potato plants to produce valuable proteins. This is how we build our #SuperAA platform, with each transformation being a unique experiment. Thanks to our amazing R&D team, we are seeing great results in a relatively short time, pushing us forward to change the way we produce food. 100(!) transformations are done, but it's just the tip of the potato!
