Colorado’s Gross Reservoir Expansion Project will raise the existing dam by 131 ft to nearly triple the reservoir’s capacity, making it the largest dam raise in the U.S. and largest roller compacted #concrete (RCC) dam raise worldwide. Construction includes placement of 118 RCC steps from the existing structure to the new dam crest. About 725,000 cu yd of RCC and 90,000 cu yd of conventional #concrete will be used.
