Our very own Pam Stevenson, Head of Talent and People at OIF Ventures took OIF to new heights 🏔️💪 Pam hiked to the very top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak in an awe-inspiring effort to raise money for Forever Projects! Pam raised a massive $20k for Forever Projects, to help women in Tanzania sustain their families and break the cycle of poverty by enabling them to build a self-sustaining future. Forever projects do this through their 12 months program that give women confidence, health and income to live independently. Together with her fellow climbers, the team raised over $120,000, supporting 100 women and their babies to access this life-changing opportunity. At the top Africa’s highest mountain at 5,895m, Pam flew the OIF Ventures flag high, carrying the team to new heights!! After the climb, Pam and the rest of the team joined Forever Projects’ Tanzanian partners on the ground to see their work in action and connect with the people their fundraising is empowering. We’re so proud of Pam and her incredible effort alongside the Forever Projects team to bring this vision to life 🌍❤️

They said: keep it low-key Pam I said: cool cool cool…🫡 HOT OFF THE PRESS: Just flew the OIF flag atop Africa’s highest mountain at 5,895m!! Because when a team backs you this hard, you carry them with you.. all the way to the top 🥹🏔️ Huge thanks to everyone who generously donated to my fundraiser (we raised a massive $20k for Forever Projects) and I’ll be meeting some of the women and children we’ve helped to support tomorrow 🫶 Edit: some people have msg’d to ask how the hike went… Here’s what you don’t see: - an epic team of 12 hikers assembled by Mark Dombkins, supported by almost 50 super-human porters to help us in our journey to the summit (!) - this pic was taken after I had 2hrs sleep (for the entire 5 days prior) and woke up with gastro the morning we summited … it was an 8.5hr journey to reach the top, in -15deg (freezing!!) and we started at 11pm. I’d like to say the views were worth it, and mostly it was, but the summit journey was a bit rough 😂 I thought of all the support I’ve been given to get this far (and by many of you reading this!) so I had to keep going!! My mantra to get through it: “You’re not dying. Just f*ing do it”. Surprisingly helpful. - Followed these tips for acclimatisation and didn’t get any major symptoms: slow deep breaths via nose the entire time whenever possible, lots of water, extra day off to acclimatise at ~4,000m, diamox and “pole pole” - which basically means to walk slowly! - lots of monopoly deal, laughter and stories shared in our down-time between long days of hiking & acclimatisation - The local Tanzanians are really kind-hearted people with an incredibly vibrant culture and their food is SO delicious!
