Support and education for nontuberculous mycobacterial lung disease
About us
NTM Info & Research (NTMir) is a non-profit organization formed on behalf of patients with pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease for the purpose of patient support, medical education and research. NTMir serves patients and physicians concerned with NTM. As a national organization, we can advance a broad agenda more successfully than individual institutions. Our voice is that of the patients and physicians who comprise our collective constituency. NTMir's mission is to save and improve lives through research, education, early detection, and improved treatments for people with pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease.

Personal care brand Tom's of Maine received a warning from the Food and Drug Administration earlier this month after the agency found disease-causing bacteria and mold-like and powdery substances in its products and facilities. The FDA inspector identified several types of bacteria in the water supply at its facility in Sanford, Maine, including Paracoccus yeei; Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which can lead to blood, lung and urinary tract infections; and Ralstonia insidiosa, which can lead to sepsis.
