In this chapter of Diary of a MetricStreamer, let’s meet Sheeba John, Manager, PMO, Customer Success and Service Operations at MetricStream. Discover her unique talents and the creative ways she balances work and life.
“I have this quirky talent for snapping selfies that don’t look like selfies, which has become a fun new hobby for me. On the creative side, I’ve been making bookmarks from dried leaves and flowers for years. I’m also passionate about textiles—I design my own sarees by hand-picking fabrics and pairing them with unique blouse designs.
Cleaning is a big stressbuster for me, even though it might sound strange to some! On weekends, you’ll often find me tackling chores with old Hindi songs playing in the background on Alexa. I also love to travel, and my European trip holds some of my best memories. Switzerland’s stunning train rides, tiled roads, pastures, snowy mountains, chocolates, and, of course, the people made it unforgettable.
With life’s hustle and bustle, it’s not always easy to keep a balance, so sometimes I take a day off just to do my favorite things and recharge. I also try to volunteer at local orphanages, especially around Christmas, which always brings a wonderful sense of joy and fulfillment. I strongly believe that kindness matters. A small act of kindness toward colleagues can have a huge impact on their work and yours. And while social media keeps us connected, nothing beats showing up for loved ones on their special days—I always try to make the effort. It’s these moments that add joy and meaning to our lives.
Recently, I’ve been exploring new skills, like working with AI. I’m diving into Co-pilot to see how it can make my work more efficient—it’s definitely worth the try! My goal is to grow into a hands-on Operations Manager, and eventually a Program Manager. Also, on my bucket list is traveling to Turkey, learning to swim, buying a house, and, hopefully, a Jeep one day.
My advice to deal with work stress? Don’t hesitate to reach out to your manager when you’re feeling burned out—take a day off to unwind and do nothing. Trust me, it can make all the difference.”
