What is the impact of GHG Protocol's latest Scope 3 guidance on the Insurance Industry? 🌍📉 I got an email from GHG Protocol today with FAQs on Scope boundaries which are highly relevant to the #insurance industry disclosures. Scope 3 emissions go beyond investment portfolios and underwriting to include operational and supply chain emissions an PCAF mandated financial ratios (premiums/customer revenue). For the insurance industry, this means tracking emissions from: ✅ Waste generated in operations – How much claim-related material is sent to landfill vs. diverted for reuse/recycling? ✅ Replacement material embodied carbon (including their transportation & distribution) ✅ Business travel of supply chain partners – Emissions tied to contractors, adjusters, and other field-based vendors. ✅ Employee commuting (but not telecommuting) 🔍 Why does this matter? Insurers are under growing regulatory pressure (EU CSRD, SEC Climate Rules, ISSB) to disclose and act on Scope 3 emissions. This update provides greater clarity but also raises the bar for accountability—especially in claims-related emissions that have often been overlooked. It’s great to see the insurance industry, collecting real data instead of using financial ratios and other kinds of conversion factors to estimate emissions. Nothing beats actually collecting information about how much waste is going to landfill when you’re in the field and actually dealing with the waste stream.

I had a terrible experience with Fireflies.ai. It's a nice product, but the $120/yr subscription price is BS. They surreptitiously add an auto-bill for AI Credits on top of the subscription price which was snuck into the terms somehow. Without the additional credits which seem to be running nearly $20/month in the 1st two months I was using it before I noticed the charges on my CC the tool is basically useless. My colleague James Hills had a similar experience with Otter.ai which aggressively sent invites to everyone he had a meeting with, sent them meeting notes by default (without explicitly asking him) and then billed him for people that accepted the Otter invites. I know there are 100's of these AI note takers. Has anyone seen alternatives to Fireflies.ai and Otter.ai which are not so overzealous in taking your money w/out asking? It’s getting worse….. Ever think technology moves to fast to keep up with it? Feel like your still learning os 2.0 while your phone is on v16? How the heck do I increase the exposure on that photo or turn off location sharing for that app? It’s getting worse. If you are between 22 and 65 and your job is done 100% on a computer, you’re about to be in trouble. AI agents are predicted to start replacing these workers THIS year. I’m already trying to figure out out replace 95% of one content oriented employee for a company that does $10k per month revenue. That will save $5k per month and make the biz profitable. So if you don’t learn to deploy ai agents to make yourself 100x more productive, you will be out of a job in the next 2 to 3 years.
