Autosurg is building the Vāsuki Robotic System, an advanced surgical platform that uses AI to autonomously steer endoscopes during gastrointestinal procedures. With a focus on precision and control, it aims to make diagnostics like colonoscopies more consistent, less physically demanding for clinicians, and more accessible for patients. The startup is led by a world-class team with backgrounds across Harvard University, University of California, Berkeley, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the University of Minnesota, and AdventHealth’s Global Robotics Institute. Their investment round was co-led by Frederic Moll, legendary founder of Intuitive Surgical ($ISRG) and widely considered the father of robotic surgery, further validating their vision and potential. Excited to share our investment in AuraML which is building the “Generative simulation engine for industrial robots” 🥳 AuraML has raised a $1M Pre-Seed round led by Turbostart with participation from us (DeVC), GFS Accelerator and India Angel Network Creating realistic environments in 3D engines requires 30-50 level designers and environment artists working together on it for 6-12 months to get the results we see in modern games and CGI. Creating realistic environments takes a lot of manual effort and resources, simulating accurate physics is tough and computationally intensive. In the fraction of the time needed for a game developer to create game worlds, a robotics engineer can use AuraML’s text to 3D environment GenAI to simulate any real world or hypothetical scenario involving a physical machine. AuraML is building a Multimodal World Model (MMWM) that acts like a digital twin of the physical world and is being trained to be able to create multi modal outputs like lidar, camera, thermal, depth, imu and other sensors. This simulation platform allows robotics developers to stress test physical systems across a wide range of scenarios. Like the current video generation models, which can generate next few seconds of video from a prompt or image, imagine a multimodal world model being able to generate the next few seconds of lidar, imu and camera output from a given scenario prompt. In the old world, robots would be tested and trained in the real world manually which cost > $500K & last 6 months. AuraML’s early clients have brought this cost down by 1/10th by running simulations in < 1 week! 🤯 AuraML’s platform AuraSIM has overcome several limitations of previous generation tools such as: 1. Rules based environment behavior → now AI driven 2. High cost of sim runs → reduced significantly 3. Sim-to-real gap → corrected using AI AuraML is essentially building the backbone of Adaptive Autonomy (the world of Robotics) which has applications across robotics, industrial automation and R&D - especially for key sectors such as Defense, Logistics, Agriculture and Utilities.
