New lawsuits have been filed, challenging frozen IRA funding. The suits say federal agencies are unlawfully restricting states' access to funds for IRA programs like Solar for All. Plaintiffs assert they are still unable to access obligated funds, despite judicial restraining orders that required federal agencies to restore access to the funds. #IRA #SolarPolicy #GreenNewDeal #KinectSolar

Tariffs on goods imported from China, Canada, and Mexico are likely to drive prices up in the solar, battery, wind, and electric vehicle industries, which rely heavily on goods imported from those countries. All three countries are also major suppliers of equipment needed to upgrade the grid, such as transformers. Unlike previous tariffs in recent years, the new regulations are not paired with incentives to shore up domestic supply chains. Tariffs on Mexican and Canadian goods have been temporarily delayed as heads of state continue to negotiate; the new 10% tariff on Chinese goods has gone into effect. Lots of uncertainty and speculation swirling right now about what Trump's pause on grants related to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) mean for the solar industry. We're keeping a close eye on this as well. A few things to remember:   1. This pause does not apply to solar tax credits (see the article below for an analysis from a tax expert).  2. This pause only affects discretionary spending on grants, loans, and contracts. 3. Tax credits are written into law and can only be changed by Congress or the courts. 4. The Trump administration suspended Inflation Reduction Act disbursements in an executive order last week, but the Biden administration had previously committed more than 84% of the funds to projects, protecting them from claw backs. Obligated funds include those for building new manufacturing facilities in the US. Approximately $11 billion in funds have not yet been obligated. Federal agencies have 90 days to submit spending recommendations to the Office of Management and Budget and National Economic Council. #IRA #SolarPolicy #KinectSolar
