Last month, JETRO SF had the honor of attending the East Bay Manufacturing Summit, hosted by the East Bay Economic Development Alliance. Thank you to Jaclyn C. Funasaki for inviting us to participate in this event. It was a great opportunity for us to learn about the manufacturing ecosystem in the East Bay, and network with local businesses and government officials. It was our first time visiting the City of Fremont in an official capacity, and we had a wonderful time meeting Mayor Lily Mei. We look forward to future opportunities to strengthen the relationship between Japan and the Easy Bay. #BayArea #SiliconValley #Japan #JETRO #JapaneseGovernment #EastBay

Last week Drew Trojanowski had the opportunity to speak to over 80 Japanese officials, delegates and companies from the semiconductor and aerospace industry. His talk showcased the potential future of Arizona and the impact of defense. During the event the delegation also gained valuable insights from leaders at Intel Corporation, Microchip Technology Inc., NXP Semiconductors, and TSMC about the benefits of onshoring the semiconductor supply chain to Arizona. Additionally, they learned about the contributions of academic partners like Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Maricopa Community Colleges in developing a skilled workforce and driving research and development. We extend our gratitude to the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Arizona Commerce Authority and JETRO USA for organizing this valuable event. #DefesnseInnovation #ArizonaTech #Semiconductors #Aerospace #TSMC #SWMAC #International #delegation

Last week, JETRO LA, in partnership with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Arizona Commerce Authority, and the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles hosted a delegation of 27 Japanese companies in #Phoenix. We kicked off the mission with a warm #Arizona welcome, featuring two briefings from #semiconductor leaders TSMC and Intel Corporation. Our delegates then learned about the recently opened Southwest Mission Acceleration Center (MAC) - a key hub for national #security - and visited Arizona State University's Skysong Innovations (SI), where Plug and Play Tech Center is running an advanced #manufacturing #accelerator. We also toured Microchip Technology Inc., NXP Semiconductors, and SUMCO USA's facilities and learned about the delicate processes of semiconductor manufacturing. Thank you to our Japanese supporters: SUMCO, Japan Business Association of Arizona (JBAA), and Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Arizona (JCCIAZ). And thank you to the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles for hosting the SEMICON West pre-event, lead by SEMI Americas. Last month, JETRO, the Idaho Department of Commerce, and the Consular Office of Japan in Portland invited 9 Japanese #semiconductor supply chain companies to visit #Boise #Idaho. Idaho is home to global semiconductor leader Micron Technology, which recently pledged to invest $15 billion USD to construct the first new memory fab in the US in over 20 years in Idaho. Our delegation was given the opportunity to tour Micron's HQ in Boise, as well as visit Japanese semiconductor equipment leader Tokyo Electron US, which recently celebrated the opening of a new office location in Boise. We also had the chance to visit agribusiness giant J.R. Simplot Company, and learn how their factories are utilizing robotics and other cutting-edge technology to facilitate food production. Thank you Governor Brad Little, Mayor Lauren McLean, and Mayor Jarom Wagoner, for meeting with us. It was an honor to speak with you all. And thank you to the Idaho Dept. of Commerce, City of Boise, City of Caldwell, Idaho, Micron, Simplot, and TEL for welcoming us. We look forward to our next visit!
