📣 Meet us at RightsCon next week! As the Internet continues to develop without inclusive or diverse designers, it can inadvertently silence or erase non-dominant languages, cultures, and heritages. This especially impacts people in rural areas and Indigenous communities who lack reliable Internet connectivity and, as a result, are often further marginalized online. The Association for Progressive Communications, the Internet Society Foundation, Rhizomatica, and the Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia (ISEA) will host a hybrid roundtable discussion with global organizers who will share how they have built and used community networks and outreach educational programs to address this challenge. Participants will hear from the Digital Empowerment Foundation (India), Internet Society Kyrgyz Chapter (Kyrgyzstan), Common Room Networks Foundation (Indonesia), and Redes AC (Mexico), who have all built last-mile connectivity solutions and made concerted efforts to ensure local communities preserve their local languages and cultures by creating locally relevant content and empowering local organizations to operate community networks sustainably.

This researcher is trying to protect your data! 🔍 In today’s digital world, apps and websites gather vast user data—but at what cost? Privacy concerns remain a major challenge. 💡 The Internet Security Research Group (ISRG), funded by the Internet Society Foundation, created Divvi Up, a privacy-respecting telemetry service. Advanced cryptography and multi-party computation enable apps to gain insights without tracking individual users. 🗣️ In our latest Research Interview Series, Sarah Gran from the ISRG shares how Divvi Up is advancing privacy-first metrics. She discusses: ✅ The risks of invasive data collection ✅ How Mozilla and human rights organizations are using Divvi Up ✅ Why privacy must be built into the Internet’s infrastructure 🔗 Watch the full interview now! https://lnkd.in/dj7iE9aU #PrivacyMatters #DataProtection #DigitalPrivacy #InternetSecurity #TechForGood #CyberSecurity #UserPrivacy #OnlineSafety #EthicalTech #PrivacyByDesign #DivviUp #InternetSocietyFoundation #PrivacyFirst #DataEthics #SecureInternet
