U.S. home prices rose 2.1% in July compared to the same time last year, with Midwest cities like Cleveland and Indianapolis leading gains, while some Southern markets, including San Antonio and Austin, saw prices decline, according to Homes.com data. "Market conditions may be more challenging for buyers in the Northeast and Midwest as supply remains tighter and price levels are appreciating at higher rates than in other parts of the country," said Erika L., National Director of Residential Analytics at Homes.com. Homes.com’s July housing market report shows that home price appreciation held steady, with the national median home price up 2.1% year-over-year to $393,000 - a moderate increase that reflects the ongoing impact of rising inventory and affordability pressures. Inventory levels jumped 26% compared to last July, giving buyers more options and bargaining power. At the same time, higher mortgage rates continue to weigh on affordability, slowing price growth in many markets.
