A major milestone for the Portland International Airport (PDX) TCore Phase 2 project! Last week, the first roof module of Phase 2 was transported across the airfield and carefully moved into its final position over the following nights - a complex operation requiring precision, coordination, and a strong commitment to safety. This work was strategically performed at night to minimize impact on airport operations, thanks to the dedication of the crews who work tirelessly to make it happen. Their expertise and teamwork continue to shape the future of one of the country's top airports. We’re proud to be delivering this transformative project in joint venture with Skanska, and in close in partnership with Port of Portland. #PDXNext #HoffmanBuilds #flypdx

Women in Construction, Day 5: Finding purpose. Building connections. Making an impact. That's what Melissa Howard (Tegarden) Hoffman Office Manager, does every single day. Seven years ago, Melissa found her calling in construction - but she wishes she had discovered this industry even sooner. As an Office Manager on our largest project, she plays a vital role in keeping teams connected, ensuring they have what they need to succeed, and supporting the incredible work happening in the field every day. “The funnest, coolest part of my job is just connecting everyone and being a part of that puzzle.” Melissa knows firsthand that construction is an industry full of opportunity: “This industry is huge, and it’s built for everyone - man or woman - to succeed.” Melissa has found her place in construction - and now, she’s making sure others have the tools to thrive. Hear about it in her own words. Thank you for everything you do, Melissa—we appreciate you! #womeninconstructionweek2025 #WICWeek #WICWeek2025 #HoffmanBuilds

Women in Construction Week, Day 5: Featuring Noelle Idehara Noelle Idehara is an experienced and respected project manager at Hoffman, and this year marks her 19th year with our company. Her leadership spans multiple sectors, but she is particularly known for her expertise in education projects, including Lincoln High School and Ida B. Wells-Barnett High School. Noelle’s impact has been recognized widely - she was named a 2024 Woman of Vision award winner by the Daily Journal of Commerce. Beyond the projects she leads, Noelle is dedicated to mentoring young women at Hoffman and creating opportunities for the next generation of women in construction. By sharing her knowledge and experiences, she empowers aspiring professionals to navigate challenges and seize opportunities. This week, Noelle was a panelist at a National Association of Women in Construction event at Portland Community College, where women professionals across the industry shared insights on career paths, challenges, and advice for newcomers. Here are a few of her words of wisdom: “Every project has its own unique challenges, but that’s what makes it exciting. You’ll find pride in overcoming those challenges and seeing the results of your work.” Noelle’s path into construction wasn’t planned - she didn’t go to college for it. But after applying for a summer internship, she discovered a career she loves. “The exciting part for me is that every project is different, and every team is different. You meet new people, work with new groups, and learn something new every time. That’s what keeps it exciting.” Over the years, Noelle has seen the industry evolve. “When I started, I was the only woman on a construction site. But for the project we just completed, 50% of the team were women.” When asked about feeling supported in her career, she emphasized the importance of building strong relationships and finding mentors: “You have to build that network and relationships within your career. I’ve been fortunate to have great mentors from the very beginning. There will always be people who support you, push you, and encourage you to step outside your comfort zone.” Her advice for women considering construction? “It can be intimidating, and it’s hard work - but it’s also incredibly rewarding.” Here are just some of the pictures of Noelle in action and the many ways she supports women in construction - not just this week, but all year round. #WomenInConstructionWeek2025 #WICWeek #WICWeek2025 #hoffmanbuilds

Women in Construction Week, Day 4: Featuring Amber Gorsline Amber didn’t just find a job in construction - she stepped into the industry with curiosity and turned it into a thriving 14-year long career. From a few weeks in an administrative role to a career in safety. Now, she’s supporting the field as a safety professional and inspiring the next generation to keep learning, keep growing, and keep pushing forward. Along the way, she discovered her passion: helping the next generation find their path in construction. “The lasting effects of what I do as far as opening doors, potentially helping someone, cross training, being available to share insight is critical. You can be a key to someone else’s success,” Amber shared. “We need the best of the best, there’s absolutely room for women in construction. You can achieve more than you ever expected," she says. "What you do here matters." Amber’s story is a reminder that where you start doesn’t define where you’ll go. Opportunities are everywhere, you just have to be ready to take them. Thank you, Amber, for your dedication and impact in the construction industry. We appreciate all the incredible women who continue to build and inspire future generations! #womeninconstructionweek2025 #WICWeek #WICWeek2025 #HoffmanBuilds

Women in Construction Week, Day 4: Celebrating Claire Johnston Today, we spotlight Claire Johnston, a Project Engineer at Hoffman Construction, who is making significant contributions to the University of Oregon Knight Campus Building 2 project. This 185,000-square-foot, multi-story bioengineering and applied science research facility is set to double the capacity for research and development of new biomedical technologies. Claire's dedication and expertise have been instrumental in advancing this cutting-edge project. Her supervisors commend her exceptional performance, noting that she consistently goes above and beyond in her role. When asked what advice she would give to women considering a career in construction, Claire shared: "Try it! The best thing I did when I was unsure about a career in construction was going through the internship program at Hoffman. It is an excellent way to get a feel for what it is really like to work in construction. I quickly learned that project engineering was something I wanted to pursue because of the fast-paced, collaborative environment. It is also important to surround yourself with a team that wants to see you grow and succeed in your career. Working on complex projects takes a lot of grit and hard work, but becomes much easier when you have a supportive team on your side." We are incredibly grateful for Claire’s dedication, leadership, and contributions to this important project. Thank you, Claire, for the impact you’re making at Hoffman and in the construction industry!
