On November 15th, the Master of Real Estate program had the privilege of hosting Hillwood at our speaker series. We would like to give a special thanks to Jack Barkley for attending and enlightening our students on the dynamics of industrial development within Hillwood's Alliance Texas corridor. The students were able to learn about Hillwood's development and leasing process of their industrial assets. Jack took the students through the history of Alliance Texas as well as some case studies he had experienced. The speaker bestowed great insight and advice to students regarding starting a career in commercial real estate. Thank you again to Mr. Barkley for joining us and taking time off from your busy schedule.

Hillwood is proud to be recognized as the 2025 ACTE Business-Education Partnership Award Winner by the Association for Career and Technical Education! 🏆 This national honor celebrates the impactful partnerships that support high-quality career and technical education (CTE). The award highlights the AllianceTexas Student Influencers program, a nine-month initiative led by Hope Bell and Sara Holloway-Hunton of the Customer Experience Team. This program equips local high school juniors with leadership skills, career insights, and hands-on experience through project management, networking, and public speaking opportunities. Now in its fourth year, it has become a cornerstone of Hillwood’s commitment to the education-to-workforce pipeline. Special thanks to team members like Tom Harris, Chair of Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker’s Council on Education and Workforce Development, and Mercedes Bolen, who spearheads critical partnerships with programs like Tarrant To & Through Partnership (T3) and the Texas Workforce Commission. Together, we’re strengthening the connection between education and industry.

Great to sit and chat with Hillwood President Mike Berry about the 35-year legacy of AllianceTexas. The vision that was once sketched in masterplan documents and in renderings has become 58 million square feet of office, retail, and industrial space. It has resulted in the onboarding of 574 companies and is responsible for 66,198 direct jobs.  In total, Hillwood’s 27,000-acre development has generated an estimated $120 billion in cumulative economic impact, including $9.8 billion last year alone. “I think the thing that I’m most proud of is the fact that we built something that will last way beyond my lifetime," Berry told D CEO. "The assets that are on the ground and the things that are happening inside those buildings, whether they be restaurants or large manufacturing plants, are going to have an impact on the local, the regional, and the larger part of the economy for a long time."
