  • health.enabled’s Tara Nutley is having a pre-recorded lightning talk aired at #GlobalDigitalHealthForum on Thursday, December 5 from 11:15AM - 12:15PM EAT for a virtual event on Change Management to Facilitate Digital Adoption - a review of Frameworks. As countries increasingly invest in #DigitalHealth interventions, they strive to integrate new digital tools into their operating and business environments. Focus is placed on maximizing the value of digital solutions and sustainability. However, successful digital health interventions require an equal focus on the end user and the management structures that support them. A key missing aspect of many digital health services and strategies is change management. Change management, the process that facilitates people’s adaptation to change, has long been used to facilitate organizational change because it is ultimately people who enable transformative processes. Change management focuses on driving change by motivating, training, incentivizing, and mobilizing employees. This presentation will discuss key findings of research funded by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance on change management to improve immunization and digital health outcomes. • Join health.enabled’s Yara A. on Wednesday, December 4, 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM EAT for in-person Lightning Talks 3 at #GlobalDigitalHealthForum! Yara will host a lightning talk on Digital Health for Immunization in Fragile and Conflict Settings. #DigitalHealth for #Immunization in fragile and conflict settings leverages digital technologies to enhance vaccine delivery in areas affected by political instability, conflict, or environmental emergencies. Amidst the current 'Polycrisis'—a complex mix of economic, social, political, and environmental challenges affecting over 324 million people—innovative digital solutions are essential for continuous and effective healthcare. However, implementing these technologies in fragile settings presents multifaceted challenges: technology adoption is hindered by limited literacy, resource constraints are exacerbated by funding unpredictability and ethical concerns arise over data privacy amid weak regulatory environments. Moreover, if not managed carefully, digital health interventions can worsen existing inequalities, negatively impacting those disadvantaged by socioeconomic status, gender, age, or disability-related factors. The session will discuss key findings of research funded by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and will delve into the nuances of deploying digital health interventions in fragile and humanitarian settings, emphasizing the enablers and challenges that shape these initiatives. It will also explore specific design considerations tailored to the complexity of such environments. Register today: https://lnkd.in/gk6mpyYP

  • #Supportivesupervision is widely used by #immunization programs as a strategy to improve the quality of healthcare worker performance, the coverage and demand for immunization services, and health outcomes. Despite being a foundation of health programs, supportive supervision programs are not achieving their intended results. health.enabled published a technical brief in partnership with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance on the potential transformative impact that digital health interventions for supervision can have on immunization programs. Key findings include: • Enhanced monitoring, planning, and prioritization of supervision activities • Improved execution of in-person visits and health worker learning • Better communication, motivation, and performance among health workers • Enhanced data capture, quality, and analysis • Improved commodity management and longitudinal care of priority clients Read the full text here: https://lnkd.in/dDhQKd_e #GlobalHealth #HealthInnovation #DigitalHealth

  • Women's mental and social health and wellbeing is an area that health.enabled is doing more research, writing, and mobilization as we evolve our work in #digitalhealth to look more broadly at #digitaldeterminants of health and technology in everyday life with a proactive focus on #equity.

Reflections on Women’s Mental Health and Digital Technology On November 14th, I had the privilege of speaking at the Hera Hub DC event on women’s #mentalhealth in the digital age alongside Christina Borba and Lindsay Lieberman, Esq. and other Hera Hub members. It was both an inspiring and alarming conversation. We explored how digital technology is transforming our mental well-being—for better and for worse. As women increasingly engage with digital tools, here are three ways to enhance mental health and three ways to safeguard against digital harm: 3 Ways Digital Technology Can Improve Women’s Mental Health: 1️⃣ Access Mental Health Support Anywhere: Meditation apps or teletherapy platforms offer women accessible resources to manage stress and anxiety. 63% of women using mental health apps report improvements in well-being. 2️⃣ Foster Connections Through Online Communities: Peer-support groups and anonymous forums reduce feelings of isolation. Over 55% of women find online support networks effective for managing mental health concerns. 3️⃣ Monitor and Manage Stress: Wearables and tracking apps help identify patterns in mood and stress, empowering proactive care. 70% of women using mood-tracking apps feel more in control of their mental health. 3 Ways to Protect Yourself From Digital Harm: 1️⃣ Limit Social Media to Reduce Anxiety: Excessive screen time can amplify social comparisons and body dissatisfaction. Women who use social media for more than 2 hours daily are 2.3x more likely to experience depression. 2️⃣ Create Boundaries for Better Sleep: Avoid screens before bed to combat poor sleep quality, a leading contributor to anxiety and mood disturbances. 3️⃣ Stay Safe Online: Cyberbullying, stalking, and privacy breaches disproportionately affect women. Empower yourself with privacy settings and report abuse on digital platforms. *Statistics represent data from the United States (but the general trends are broadly informative) By leveraging the benefits and mitigating its risks, women can take charge of their mental health while staying safe online. Many thanks to Julia Westfall as always for creating a wonderful space and platform for dialogue and collective action. Let’s keep the conversation going—what strategies do you use to balance mental health and digital well-being? #MentalHealthMatters #WomenEmpowerment #DigitalWellness #HeraHubDC

  • We are thrilled to announce that the Global Digital Health Monitor has been honored as a Bronze winner of the 4th Annual The Anthem Awards in Research Projects or Publications: Health! #Digitalhealth presents opportunities to improve health outcomes and save lives, but it can be challenging for governments to build and sustain solutions at scale. The #GlobalDigitalHealthMonitor (GDHM) is an interactive web-based resource that aims to track, monitor, and assess the enabling environment for equitable digital health throughout the world. The Monitor was developed to empower health ministries, funders, policy makers, and industry players to make informed strategic decisions about where to prioritize their investment and effort. Let us commit to harnessing the power of digital health to drive progress by continuing to provide a platform that tracks and improves digital health quality globally- it’s through our collective efforts that we can transform health systems. #HealthEquity #DigitalTransformation #AnthemAwards

  • Can #digitalhealth revolutionize child vaccination rates in Pakistan? Patty Mechael, CEO and Co-Founder of health.enabled, recently led the publication of “Evaluating the 'Zindagi Mehfooz' Electronic Immunization Registry and Suite of Digital Health Interventions to Improve the Coverage and Timeliness of Immunization Services in Sindh, Pakistan” in JMIR Publications. IRD’s  Zindagi Mehfooz (ZM) electronic immunization registry (EIR) is a comprehensive suite of digital health interventions that aim to improve equitable access, timeliness, and coverage of child immunizations through a smartphone-based app for vaccinators, web-based dashboards for supervisors and managers, text message alerts and reminders for caregivers, and a call center. It has been implemented at scale in Sindh Province, #Pakistan. This study, funded by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, aimed to present findings from an evaluation of the ZM-EIR suite of digital health interventions in order to improve data availability and use as a contribution, among other immunization program interventions, to enhanced immunization outcomes for children aged 12-23 months in Sindh Province. Many thanks to our research partner, Gallup Pakistan, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and others who worked with us to conduct this study and publish the results.
