The founders in our 2024-25 Hatchery Incubator cohort are busy preparing their pitches for their culminating event, the Student Founders Showcase. Over the next few weeks we will be introducing some of our student ventures. Meet Griselys (G) Fermin, founder of Studded, a brand redefining the clothing binary by creating masculine style with a better fit for the identities and body types that fall in between. Studded is modernizing fashion by designing masculine clothing tailored for the female body, ensuring confidence and comfort for those who don’t fit into traditional sizing. Watch G share how Studded is making fashion more inclusive and visit her website at https://studded.us where you can sign up to be the first to know when her product drops! #FounderSpotlight #EmoryUniversity #InclusiveFashion #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #EmoryInnovates

Innovation Isn’t About Faster Horses—It’s About Taking the First Drive At The Hatchery, we love exploring the real stories behind innovation. Henry Ford’s famous quote—“If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses”—is often used to celebrate visionary thinking. But history tells a more nuanced story. Early automobiles were just carriages with engines, and Ford himself iterated 20 times before landing on the Model T. Innovation isn’t about sudden genius—it’s about incremental improvements, testing, and refining ideas over time. And sometimes, it takes a bold move to push an idea forward. Bertha Benz, frustrated by delays, famously took her husband’s prototype on a (possibly illegal) cross-country drive in 1888—proving the car’s potential and creating demand for what would become Mercedes-Benz. The lesson? Innovation is a team sport. It takes vision, persistence, and people willing to take the first drive. Who’s been your Bertha—pushing you to test, refine, and launch your ideas? We would love to hear your stories. #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #EmoryUniversity
