Legislators visited Chappell Elementary School on March 10, 2025, to see Act 20 implementation in action in the Green Bay Area Public School District. Legislators were provided with an overview from District leadership and administrators, and then a tour of several classrooms to observe student learning. State Representative Joel Kitchens, one of the leaders behind Act 20, was in attendance. "I was really impressed with what they're doing here and the leadership that their administration and principals are showing," Kitchens said. "It was just great to see the kids so engaged and enthusiastic about learning to read." Act 20 mandates criteria for supporting 5K-3rd grade students with reading readiness and personal reading plans.

The Green Bay Area Public School District's Portrait of a Graduate identifies five graduate profiles: academic achievers, communicators and connectors, personal architects, leaders and teammates, and empowered navigators. This week, students at Kennedy Elementary School exemplified all of these profiles as they presented to the new west side elementary school naming committee and Superintendent Bayer on their preferred name for the school. Kennedy Elementary is a Leaders in Me school, and the students that presented were the school's Lighthouse Team. The Student Lighthouse Team is made up of students in grades 2-5, who applied and interviewed to be a part of the team. #PortraitofaGraduate #Excellence #LeadersAndTeammates
