My software engineering skills PEAKED when I was 19 years old. Was working at a megacorp full-time.
> Wrote web servers using Java-on-steriods aka Scala, wrote elegant functional programming code
> Built a fault-tolerant flexible scraping system using Golang, Temporal Technologies, Playwright
> Non-trivial frontends with ReactJS and XYFlow
> Scraped millions of pages using an internal service that was built on Apache Kafka
> Processed terabytes of data using Apache Spark
> Built auto-correct and typeahead services using Elastic and some libs
> Managed deployments with GoCD, Docker, Inc, Kubernetes, HashiCorp Terraform
> and a bunch more
Everything I learned is still so relevant today. Looking back, the breadth and depth of things I worked on was amazing. Only a very few other orgs could have given me this level of exposure.
Huge thanks to all of my mentors and colleagues at Avalara (Indix). What fantastic two years were they 😭
It was one of the best and most impactful professional and personal growth periods of my life. Forever grateful, love you all ❤️
