  • Women innovators are game changers. Margaret Knight revolutionized packaging with her invention of the flat-bottom paper bag. But she didn’t just create—she fought for her rightful credit and became one of the first women to receive a patent. In the FQ Lounge at #SXSW, we’re bringing some of that same BIG creative energy—bold ideas, fearless leaders, and necessary convos (always)—and of course, celebrating #WomensHistoryMonth! Join us March 8 - March 9—When we invest in women, we invest in economic growth, innovation, and stronger returns. RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/gZ95dNku

  • Being above the title of a film is a badge of honor for actors. It shows that your presence in itself is a selling point for the film. For “Roman Holiday,” it was stipulated in Gregory Peck’s contract that he was to be the only actor to have their name above the title. This was commonplace for Peck at the time as a leading man. But once he started production with #AudreyHepburn, he quickly realized she deserved top billing. And his prediction came true, she went on to win the #Oscar for the role. Who’s watching the #AcademyAwards this weekend? 🙋♀️

  • The creative revolution is here — and AI is leading the charge. Don’t miss this powerful conversation with leaders from the world’s most innovative brands. RSVP: https://lnkd.in/gZ95dNku

  • One compliment. One act of compassion. A ripple effect that changed an entire industry. More than 50% of nail salons in the U.S. are owned by Vietnamese Americans—because one woman saw an opportunity. In the 1970s, Hollywood star Tippi Hedren received a simple compliment on her manicure. She took action—teaching 20 Vietnamese refugee women the art of nail care. Women empowered women. And an entire industry transformed. Tippi was a woman on a mission to help others rise. Thank you Jason Chu for the history lesson! 🎥 @jasonchumusic via Instagram

  • Dr. Green made history in 2014 when she developed a revolutionary cancer treatment that uses lasers and nanotechnology to eliminate cancer in mice after only one 10-minute treatment in just 15 days with no observable side effects. “No chemo, no radiation, no surgery. It is a game-changer for solid tumors,” she said. Today, she’s working to raise the money to cover the human clinical trials and FDA approval expenses ($90 million) but systemic bias is holding back critical research like this. The Stanford Social Innovation Review found that nonprofit foundation leaders of color having inequitable access to social networks which is a major barrier in accessing funding. 92% of U.S. foundation presidents are white, and about 75% of white people have entirely white social networks. When Black scientists and researchers face bias in funding, it keeps life-saving innovations from emerging. Dr. Green is one of the few Black women physicists in the U.S. and only the second Black woman to receive a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
