Snell & Wilmer along with EvoNexus were thrilled to co-host the Access Silicon Valley Startup Fundamentals 3 Term Sheet workshop presented by my colleague and startup expert Roger Rappoport at our new San Diego office. This informative session included a deep dive into term sheets and related topics such as when and from whom to take money, when is an amount raised too much or too little, and the perils of both, the anatomy of a term sheet, and the impact of term sheets on existing shareholders. Also discussed were the most recent trends relating to: liquidation preferences, participation rights, anti-dilution provisions, pay-to-play provisions, redemption rights, registration rights, rights of first refusal, drag along rights, co-sale rights, among others. Google’s Head of Emerging AI Partners (recently retired) and AIR investor Geneva Lake stopped in to Frontwave Arena last Friday to see AIR autotracking in action. Our first live test went well, with an AIR One robot following the game up and down the court with little human supervision. We’ll be sharing results from our next test later this month. Stay tuned. AIR will ultimately offer networked camera robots that function as a hive mind and give crews new tools to augment or automate live production. Camera operators will conduct teams of inexpensive robots to better tell their story and capture more and better content. Sensoride was admitted to EvoNexus as a two man team in 2022. During that time, the startup focused on developing software algorithms that would significantly enhance the performance of radar sensors in a variety of use cases. Throughout their development, they received hands-on mentoring, collaboration, strategic connections, and facilities support from our unique non-profit incubator. I'm extremely pleased that long-time corporate partner Murata will be the new home of Sensoride.

Thermal imaging pioneer, Dr. William Perrish describes Obsidian Sensors' technology as "the biggest innovation since the invention of the microbolometer." Historically thermal imaging systems have been expensive and initially only used by the military. Obsidian has developed a manufacturing process that enables the creation of their thermal sensors at 1/10 the cost of current providers. Thermal imaging cameras with Obsidian's technology one day may be standard equipment on automobiles, like radars and cameras. Imagine a pedestrian or animal crossing the street in front of your car, unseen by your headlights. Thermal image sensors provide a new level of information for the vehicle and driver.
