On International Nurses Day, observed May 12th on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, we are celebrating nurses around the world and their dedication to patients. At Eisai, our human health care (hhc) mission takes inspiration from Florence Nightingale and her enormous contributions to nursing and public health. So much so, that our hhc philosophy mark is modeled on her signature.

Golden week, our long holiday, starts this week in Japan! During this time, many companies close. But our hhc hotline is open 365 days to support patients and the people in Japan. We believe that “there are no days off for the environment surrounding patients.” Our hotline, which has been responding to inquiries every single day since its launch in April 1990, is a testament to this commitment.

Life at Eisai outside the 9-to-5 🐟 Japan loves its fresh tuna, and so do our staff! Our Eisai HQ in Tokyo recently hosted a tuna cutting show as a social event for employees. As the master butcher demonstrated traditional Japanese technique of cutting a whole tuna, employees were able to taste-test a variety of tuna cuts and interact with colleagues across departments.

Eisai’s Kawashima Industrial Park recently celebrated its 60th Anniversary! 🎉 In celebration of this milestone, a ceremony was held where our CEO Haruo Naito delivered a special address to staff and young employees had the chance to present their strategies for the future. Eisai top management commemorated the occasion with “kagami biraki”, a traditional Japanese celebratory practice where sake casks are cracked open with mallets. The casks at our event were ornamental, so no sake was harmed in the making of this video!

Imagine rowing through jungle waterways or hiking for hours with medicine on your back—just to reach people who need medicine. That’s the reality of lymphatic filariasis (LF) elimination in Papua New Guinea. We hosted JICA’s Chief Advisor Masato Yamauchi to share these powerful stories with Eisai employees. We proudly support this mission through free provision of LF treatment.
