Children with a rare disease and their families are in a race against time. 95% of rare diseases lack an approved treatment and the average time to diagnosis is 4.8 years – far too long for children who need care now. 🤍 This #RareDiseaseDay, we’re taking action. At DiMe, we’re advancing the fight against #pediatric rare diseases by building a core set of digital measures to help accelerate research, streamline drug development, and reduce risks, accelerating the delivery of new therapies. This project brings together top innovators, researchers, and industry leaders to define high-quality digital endpoints that will transform the landscape of pediatric rare disease treatment. 💡 Join us in moving this work forward. Every child deserves a fighting chance. 📌 Get involved: https://lnkd.in/g-xu_HPS

🧠 Mental health conditions affect an estimated 970 million people globally, with #anxiety and #depression being most prevalent. Since 1990, the prevalence, incidence, and burden of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia have more than doubled, highlighting urgent needs in this space. Our new report, commissioned by Wellcome Trust and developed with UCLA Depression Grand Challenge, examines how sensor-based digital health technologies (sDHTs) could support mental health research and care. Key findings reveal: ▪️ Sleep and social behavior measurements show the strongest scientific validation among potential digital measures ▪️ Research indicates physical activity and stress responses (heart rate) are also well-supported measurement areas ▪️ Implementation requires careful consideration of condition-specific needs - for example, depression-focused tools should work offline during low-motivation periods 📝 The report provides recommendations to accelerate the development and implementation of sDHTs in mental health research, for example: ▪️ Focus on integrating existing sensors into user-friendly, energy-efficient designs ▪️ Establish standardized systems for data collection and sharing ▪️ Create centralized hubs to accelerate research and knowledge sharing ▪️ Design inclusive solutions with features like multilingual interfaces ▪️ Build strong community engagement from the outset 🔗 Read our evidence-based recommendations for researchers, funders, and developers: https://lnkd.in/gz4ieVzv
