As we continue celebrating 30 years of DC public charter school history and excellence, we’re highlighting some memorable moments from The Inspired Teaching Demonstration School. These photos capture experiences that have shaped the school community over the years, from a 2014 visit with former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama to students meeting President Obama during a White House visit, and a 2012 group photo of the entire school community on its playground. These moments reflect the strong sense of community, opportunity, and connection that has defined DC public charter schools for the past three decades. If you’re part of the Inspired Teaching community, we’d love to hear your favorite memories in the comments. ⬇️

Strong charter schools do not happen by accident. They are built — episode by episode, decision by decision — by leaders who take governance seriously. Episode 3 of UnCHARTERed Territory is a conversation about that work. https://lnkd.in/g-eXsCqy #UnCHARTERedTerritory #DCPCSB #DCCharterSchools #BoardGovernance What makes a great charter school board? As we celebrate 30 years of DC public charter schools, we’re taking it back to where it all began. ⏪ Take a look through the early days of The Next Step Public Charter School, the very first DC public charter school, and see how the school has been opening doors and creating second chances through education since 1996. Over the last three decades, The Next Step has made a lasting impact on students and communities across the District. If you’re an alumnus, former staff member, partner, or someone whose life has been touched by the school, please share your experiences in the comments.
