Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA)
Technology, Information and Internet
A global standards body responsible for publishing technical specifications for digital content provenance.
About us
The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) was founded in 2021 and is led by Adobe, BBC, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Publicis Groupe, Sony, and Truepic. C2PA members work together to create open and interoperable technical standards for establishing digital content provenance and authenticity. The specifications are informed by scenarios, workflows, and requirements gathered from industry experts and partner organizations. The C2PA’s current work focuses on technical specifications for declaring the source and history (or provenance) of digital content in a tamper-evident manner. Content Credentials are the C2PA’s technical standard for tamper-resistant metadata that can be attached across various content types, including images, audio, video, and documents. Content Credentials function like a nutrition label for digital content, allowing creators to attach provenance to their content, such as creation date, tools used, and details of edits made along the way. In addition, a variety of open-source libraries and toolkits exist to enable anyone to integrate content provenance across web, desktop, and mobile implementations. For more information about the C2PA’s Content Credentials, visit: https://contentcredentials.org/ Technical specifications can be found here: https://c2pa.org/specifications/

The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) is proud to have our #ContentCredentials standard recognized and endorsed by top security agencies, including the National Security Agency. This recognition underscores the vital role of #ContentAuthenticity in ensuring media transparency and #ContentProvenance in today's digital world.
Excited to see our Content Credentials standard (from Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA)) recommended by the National Security Agency (yes, that NSA!) as well as the security agencies of the UK, Australia, and Canada. https://lnkd.in/eE7jqzNG (fun fact: this is the second time that the NSA has publicly recommended work of mine - the first was redaction in PDF!)

We are thrilled to see the establishment of the Interagency Task Force to Advance International Engagement on Content Authentication. This initiative marks a significant step in fostering international collaboration and advancing best practices for #ContentAuthenticity and #ContentProvenance. As the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA)'s #ContentCredentials specification moves to become an international standard under ISO - International Organization for Standardization next year, we aim to support the task force’s exciting initiative with our expertise around implementing global #DigitalContentTransparency.

Our proposed ISO standard establishes an internationally recognized method for implementing #ContentCredentials. Its approval would mark a significant advancement toward the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA)’s goal of promoting and defining best practices for global adoption of digital provenance techniques. We look forward to the committee’s decision!
Big news: The C2PA specification for Content Credentials was officially sent off by ISO TC 171/SC 2/WG 13 to Fast Track ballot to become ISO 22144. Assuming that the members bodies that participate in the committee approve it, then it will be ratified in April! Exciting times for Content Provenance! #C2PA #ContentCredentials
