As a clinician scientist at Click Therapeutics, Inc., I am  thrilled to announce the publication of findings from our clinical learning studies, conducted as part of our collaboration with our dear colleagues at Boehringer Ingelheim: "Establishment and Maintenance of a Digital Therapeutic Alliance in People Living With Negative Symptoms of Schizophrenia." What’s this publication all about? Imagine meeting a therapist or doctor who truly “gets you”—they’re knowledgeable, understand your goals and fears, and guide you through every step of your treatment. This connection is called a therapeutic working alliance, and research consistently shows it is one of the most critical factors in treatment success. Patients living with schizophrenia who experience negative symptoms often face challenges like loss of interest in social activities, lack of motivation, and reduced feelings of pleasure. These symptoms make it difficult to access care and form meaningful bonds with healthcare providers. So now what? Well, Click Therapeutics and Boehringer Ingelheim have been hard at work designing an investigational prescription digital therapeutic (PDT) that can bring care to the patients—and incredibly, can facilitate the formation of a therapeutic working alliance. This publication demonstrates that a digital working alliance, much like the therapeutic bond between a clinician and a patient, can indeed be established between patients with schizophrenia and an investigational PDT. Even more importantly, our findings show that symptom severity does not limit engagement, underscoring the capability of the alliance between patients living with schizophrenia and PDTs.
