Congrats to CEV portfolio SparkMeter on teaming up with Honeywell to offer on-demand grid insights to one of the largest US electric co-ops, SECO Energy (Sumter Electric Cooperative). 🎉 U.S. utilities have been hard-pressed to manage the load growth from data centers, EVs and extreme weather conditions on the grid. Through SparkMeter and Honeywell, utilities can now turn all data into actionable insights, enabling them to detect and prepare for outages and maximize their investment in AMI and other financial and operational systems. Congrats to Daniel Schnitzer, Stan McHann and the entire SparkMeter team! More on how SparkMeter is bringing never-before-seen AI-driven insights to utilities ⬇️
SparkMeter is excited to announce that one of the U.S.’s largest electric co-ops, SECO Energy (Sumter Electric Cooperative), has signed on as the largest utility yet to leverage SparkMeter’s Praxis platform and GridScan and GridFin applications, which provides on-demand insights and analysis to automate and modernize grid assets. Delivered in partnership with Honeywell, the SparkMeter solutions that Honeywell Forge Performance+ For Utilities allow SECO Energy to maximize their investment not only in AMI but also their other financial and operational systems. Through SparkMeter’s Praxis platform, all this data is now in one platform designed to analyze utility engineering, financial, and operational data. Central Florida-based SECO Energy is home to a booming EV and residential solar market, as well as new home construction putting immense pressure on the grid. SparkMeter’s GridFin application will replace a multitude of spreadsheets and manual calculations that SECO Energy runs on everything from supplier bills to customer usage to rate structures. On grid management, GridScan is enabling monitoring of transformers, lines, and distributed solar contribution to support better decision-making around asset allocation as load growth soars. "Our partnership with Honeywell transforms how utilities approach the energy transition," said Daniel Schnitzer, CEO of SparkMeter. "By providing continuous monitoring of grid assets and on-demand financial analyses, we're enabling utilities like SECO to make data-driven decisions that improve reliability and manage costs during this critical industry transition." Making history at CEV: We’re announcing our first investment in the plastics recycling industry with MacroCycle Technologies, a developer of a novel PET & polyester textile waste upcycling technology. 👏 Today, 85% of global plastics are disposed of in our landfills and waterways, or are incinerated. Outperforming current recycling methods, MacroCycle’s technology is cost-effective and requires 80% less energy to upgrade plastic waste into its previous high-quality form. Congrats Stwart Peña Feliz and Jan-Georg Rosenboom and the entire MacroCycle team on your funding! We’re looking forward to supporting MacroCycle’s growth alongside our incredible co-investors Volta Circle, KdT Ventures and Neotribe Ventures. With AI in the spotlight, the U.S. needs more grid innovation to power the growth in data centers. Luckily, companies like CEV portfolio LineVision are already working to enable cables to carry more power – one of the biggest bottlenecks in delivering electricity. Through their sensors, LineVision provides real-time data on windspeeds and cable sag, which signals utilities when a cable is cool. An inside look into how it's already working: LineVision installed 11 sensors across a 35-kilometer section of the UK’s grid, which saved National Grid $17.5 million in 2022 alone by increasing power capacity by 19%. More from Bloomberg on how LineVision and other grid technologies are ramping up ahead of AI’s energy demand: https://lnkd.in/dCnU8Frr
