Yesterday, we had the joy of partnering with the incredible Upson Senior Center Director, Mandy Jackson, to bring a little extra magic to the season. Acting as Santa’s helpers, we personally hand delivered care packages filled with love and essentials to seniors in their homes and at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation. It was truly a blessing to see the smiles, give warm hugs, and share moments of joy with those who are sometimes forgotten during the hustle and bustle of the holidays. These interactions remind us of the importance of connection and kindness, especially during this season of giving. If you know me, you know I have a deep passion for giving back to the community. Working in the public sector, we don’t often hear phrases like “corporate responsibility”... because serving our community is the heart of what we do. I still believe in taking that responsibility a step further. Each year, I aim to organize two special initiatives: one focused on our environment, and one dedicated to serving people. This year, I chose something incredibly close to my heart: a Senior Care Package Drive. ❤️ Yesterday, the City of Thomaston partnered with the wonderful Mandy Jackson, Director of the Upson Senior Center, to bring some much-needed joy and cheer to our seniors. Together, we put on our Santa hats, delivered care packages to seniors at their homes, and visited residents at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation. The joy on their faces, the warm hugs, and the heartfelt smiles reminded me just how important it is to show love and kindness to those who are often overlooked during the holiday season. Chief Walker's confirmation took place during the City Council meeting on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Chief Walker brings over 31 years of service to the Thomaston Fire Department, having worked his way up through the ranks over the course of his career. His journey from firefighter to Fire Chief highlights his dedication to the department and the Thomaston community. Known for his strong leadership and commitment to public safety, Chief Walker has become a well-respected figure within the department and beyond. “I am deeply honored to be confirmed as Fire Chief of the Thomaston Fire Department,” said Chief Walker. “After three decades of serving this community, I look forward to continuing our department’s tradition of excellence while meeting new challenges and ensuring the safety of our citizens.” In his previous role as Interim Fire Chief, Walker successfully oversaw daily operations and led the department with a focus on service, teamwork, and community engagement. His long-standing service and in-depth knowledge of the department have uniquely prepared him to take on this leadership position.
