Cherokee Nation hosted a special contractor and employment fair last Wednesday at the Greenwood Cultural Center in Tulsa. The event connected attendees with opportunities to work with and gain employment with Cherokee Nation and its entities, including Cherokee Nation Businesses. Deputy Secretary of State Canaan Duncan and Freedmen Community Liaison Melissa Payne visited with those who stopped by to learn more about securing employment with the Cherokee Nation and its entities and to learn about the opportunities created by our tribe’s significant investments in housing, health care, and education capital projects. Wado to the over 100 people who visited us! Programs represented at last week’s fair can also be accessed at Cherokee.org.

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. alongside First Lady January Hoskin, Deputy Chief Bryan Warner, and other Cherokee Nation leaders, signed a proclamation Friday to declare March 2025 as Rare Disease Awareness Month in the Cherokee Nation! With over 7,000 rare conditions impacting lives every day, we honor the strength, courage, and perseverance of those living with rare diseases. The Cherokee Nation stands united in its commitment to advocacy, inclusion, and progress. Our tribe is bringing awareness to the cause, and we know that by discussing rare diseases, knowledge of such diseases, research and policies, and a patient’s quality of life is improved. In 2024, Chief Hoskin established a Rare Disease Task Force to examine treatment approaches and develop strategies to enhance care for patients and families affected by rare diseases.
