Today’s economic blackout day is meant as a wakeup call to big businesses: your practices aren’t working for people. Boycotts can be effective to get companies’ attention and call out their irresponsible actions. Consumer demand is massive – the most powerful force in the economy, and a potent force for change. But only if the demand is sustained, the demands are clear, and good behavior is recognized. Otherwise, it’s too easy to ignore. With climate change, the message is this: failure to address rising emissions hurts everyone, especially the most vulnerable communities on the front lines of climate disasters. Real climate accountability is within reach, but takes commitment and funding from businesses, not just future pledges. Today’s no-buy actions could be the new beginning of a movement, or just a blip. We know how to transform the global economy into one that’s just, sustainable, and built for all. In the weeks ahead, the best companies will listen to their customers, and show that they’re ready to move forward. 💪🌍

How does a brand like amika align its climate action with measurable impact? The Climate Transition Budget (CTB) introduces a fresh approach to climate funding. Instead of focusing on tonne-for-tonne neutrality, it emphasizes dollar-for-tonne funding. This framework offers companies the flexibility to count value chain projects and better align their funding with their climate goals. This year, amika joined our Beta Program to test the CTB framework in action. Our latest case study delves into how they leveraged a Climate Transition Budget to make meaningful strides on their climate action journey.
