We want to congratulate one of our young scholars, Felipe de Farias, for the incredible work that he has done. Under our education development programs, Felipe has worked closely with CASFER researchers and received guidance on several science projects. Recently, Felipe won 1st place in 11th-grade Physical at the science fair in Lubbock, qualifying him for the State Fair of Texas! He got the ACS top award, the Stockholm Water Qualifier Award, and an HPWD Outstanding Water Project 3rd place. Even more exciting, he received a silver medal and was selected as one of only two students to be a representative at the International Science Fair in Ohio this May. We couldn't be more proud of the incredible work that Felipe is doing and we can't wait to see what he accomplishes next! #casfer #nsf

Toward a nitrogen circular economy
About us
NSF Engineering Research Center for Advancing Sustainable and Distributed Fertilizer Production is developing an engineered system that takes activated nitrogen from waste streams such as concentrated animal feeding operations, municipal wastewater treatment plants, and agricultural runoff, capture, and convert them into precise nitrogen-based fertilizers, passing them directly to the end users/farmers.

This year's Fundamental of Electrochemistry with Focus on Electrolysis and Separations Workshop will be on May 6-7 and hosted at Georgia Institute of Technology. The workshop aims to impart practical skills and deepen the understanding of electrochemical processes, allowing scholars to translate classroom concepts into real applications. By engaging in practical experiments, participants will gain insights into the complexities of electrochemical systems and learn how to troubleshoot the most common experiments in the field. A special thanks to Pine Research Instrumentation, Alex Peroff, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Georgia Tech School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. Applications are open now! For more information and to apply, please visit https://lnkd.in/ddA5vmqj. #casfer #nsf

Recently, one of our industry partners, Inside Out, got to come visit CASFER headquarters at Texas Tech! We had a great time showing them our state-of-the-art labs and giving them a tour of our mobile testbed, which is at the Lubbock Wastewater Treatment Plant. The visit was packed with collaboration between Inside Out and several of our CASFER researchers! #casfer #nsf
