Advanced Trench Rescue Training
It was a very educational day for me watching our crews participate in trench rescue training under Chief Patrick Moore at our week long class in Idaho. Have you heard of compartment syndrome? It’s a potential danger during trench collapse and occurs when blood is compressed inside the body, preventing circulation and causing toxins to build up. When someone is extricated, having Advanced Life Support on scene is essential for providing the necessary treatment. Removing the victim from the space can be fatal if not done properly. Who would have thought?? The weather was perfect, the crews were engaged, and each person definitely went home with something new learned. We love working with this customer because they understand the importance of safety and training. When everyone keeps safety as a priority, we can ensure everyone goes home at the end of the day. #capstonefireandsafety #ruralmetrofire #trenchrescuetraining #safetyfirst #alwayslearning

A shout out goes out today for one of our thoughtful firefighters, Jovani Gamboa. He lead two lost dogs down the 2-mile trail to meet their owner at the trailhead. The two dogs had been missing since Saturday. A little dehydrated but still in good shape. Jovani spent some time giving them water and finding the owners phone number on a collar, before bringing them down the mountain. The owner was very appreciated. Thank you Tom Stephenson for sharing this story and pictures. #capstonefireandsafetymanagement #firefighter #CareforCommunity

8 Members of our Wildland Fire Division participated in a 2-Day (LARRO) Course. This Low Angle Rope Rescue training was specifically designed for an upcoming project, located in a high wildland fire environment. The crews will be assigned to provide Fire, EMS & Rescue support for a customer working in challenging conditions. This includes heavy vegetaion, steep terrain, narrow roads and trails. The project will kick off as the 2024 Wildland Fire Season begins this spring. #capstonefireandsafetymanagement #LARRO
