We're proud to announce the latest additions to our drone fleet: two BRINC Lemur 2 drones, made right here in the USA! 🇺🇸 These advanced units are equipped with cutting-edge technology that will help us enhance our ability to protect and serve the community while giving our officers tools to keep themselves out of harm's way. Here's what they bring to the table: 🔹 4K Cameras with Night Vision – These drones can capture ultra-clear images, even in low light, making them invaluable during nighttime operations or in situations where visibility is limited. Whether it's locating a suspect or or assessing a crime scene, the Lemur 2 ensures clarity at all times. 🔹 Thermal Sensors – Perfect for search-and-rescue or locating suspects hiding in dark, hard-to-reach places. Thermal imaging allows us to see heat signatures through obstacles, helping officers track movement when visual sight isn't exactly possible. 🔹 Real-Time Floor Plan Creation – In a high-risk scenario, like entering a building, the Lemur 2 can quickly create a real-time floor plan of the areas it flies over. This allows officers to assess the layout of the structure, find potential hazards, and plan their movements more effectively, keeping everyone safer. 🔹 Two-Way Communication – The drones enable direct communication with barricaded suspects, allowing for negotiations or issuing commands without putting officers in immediate danger. This tool can de-escalate a tense situation and save lives. 🔹 Mesh Networking – The Lemur 2 drones can connect with each other, creating a dynamic mesh network that extends the operational range. This is particularly useful in large, complex areas where line-of-sight might be obstructed. 🔹 Access Capabilities – These drones can open most doors and even break glass, allowing officers to gain quick access in high-stakes situations such as hostage rescues or dangerous standoffs, all while minimizing risk to officers and the public. During a tense situation, Kansas City, MO PD, deployed this BRINC Ball to establish communication with a suspect in a downtown KC high-rise building. The suspect threw it off the 7-story building, where it ricocheted off a nearby structure, struck a police car, and rolled down the street.
