BNP Paribas is at the United Nations Ocean Conference (#UNOC) in Nice! The time for us to explain our action regarding the #BlueEconomy and #OceanConservation. One thing is sure: only collective actions and collaborations between stakeholders from different backgrounds will be effective. That’s why we hosted a panel in the Green Zone today called “Doing things differently for Ocean” gathering clients and partners: Véronique Vezin from Fondation Tara Océan, Marine Olacia from SAO Textile, Sofien Kerkeni from D-ICE ENGINEERING, Samuel Dupont from Bioceanor and Kevin Tayebaly from ChangeNOW. Grégoire Lepoutre, Head of Sustainability at BNP Paribas Banque Privée, explained how a new stuctured product can intertwine different ecosystems: while proposing a fund dedicated to #Ocean and the Blue Economy to clients and investors, a part of the money is converted in donations to NGOs such as Fondation Tara Ocean. Indeed, we believe that the solutions will come essentially from the support to scientific research combined with innovations from the private sector.

🌊 We just started our #Ocean week this weekend in Monaco by attending the the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF), a major event dedicated to financial solutions for Ocean. Our Chairman Jean Lemierre was onstage for the first plenary session of the weekend with a clear message: BNP Paribas acts for the Blue Economy and for Ocean Conservation. Of course, there is still a lot to do, particularly when it comes to scale up solutions and financing. That’s why we recently joined the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA), the only multi-sector collaboration connecting the #finance and #insurance sectors, governments, multilateral organisations, civil society, and local partners, to pioneer finance and insurance products that incentivise investment into coastal and Ocean resilience, and through Nature-based Solutions. We announced at the #BEFF that we also signed their #BackBlueOceanFinance initiative, supported by numerous coalitions, which aims to make the Ocean a central element of responsible finance and investment strategies. Our belief? Only a collective action gathering many different stakeholders will be efficient. That’s why we are also an official sponsor of #UNOC, the United Nations Ocean Conference, that just starts this morning. #BNPPatUNOC

🎾#UnexpectedPeople – Episode 3: Committing Through Sport At BNP Paribas, the unexpected isn’t something you plan, it’s something you experience, share, and sometimes… play out on a tennis court. For over 50 years, BNP Paribas has been a committed partner of global tennis, supporting major events such as Roland-Garros. But our engagement goes far beyond the stands. For more than 15 years, the We Are Tennis Cup (#WATCup) has brought our employees together through a shared passion for tennis. This year, 3,000 participants from 33 countries took part in this unique internal tournament. In this episode of our #UnexpectedPeople podcast, Elodie Mattio (BNP Paribas Wealth Management Luxembourg) and Nicolás Weitkiewic, PMP (BNP Paribas Cardif, Brazil) share their WATCup journey. Two continents, one team spirit, a powerful example of sporting commitment within the group. 🎥 Watch their story in the first comment ⬇

🌊 Few days to go before a decisive week for Ocean in the French Riviera! As an official sponsor, we are proud to support the United Nations Ocean Conference (#UNOC), held in Nice from June 9th to 13th. The event will bring counterparties from all over the world, working together for a better Ocean’s use and protection. 🐋 Next weekend, we will be also in Monaco for the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF) in Monaco, dedicated to exploring finance solutions for a sustainable blue economy. At BNP Paribas, we have seriously taken Ocean into account for years, driving for instance more than €1 Billion to finance shipping’s ecological transition. 🚢 We also finance many companies and organisations acting for Ocean preservation, such as Blue Alliance Marine Protected Areas, with whom we launch Blue Finance, an impact debt facility to support the development of Marine Protected Areas in the Global South. Learn more about this initiative with Sylvain Taboni and Pauline Blandin, Impact Investments Managers, in the video below 👇

25 years already! On May 23, 2000, BNP Paribas was officially born — the result of a merger between two century-old institutions: Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP), focused on retail banking, and Paribas, an investment bank. But did you know this story is rooted in nearly two centuries of financial innovation? From the founding of the Comptoir National d’Escompte de Paris in 1848 to the Banque de Paribas and the Netherlands in 1872, each chapter helped shape the Group’s DNA. This wasn’t just a name change. It was the realization of a vision: to build a strong, European, world-class banking group ready to support economic, technological, and societal transformation. That same day at 9:00 PM, the bnpparibas.com website went live. In 2001, the brand came to life with the launch of the taking flight logo — a combination of the stars within the European flag and the messenger bird. The stars emphasize the BNP Paribas's European roots and the swallow represents its international take-off. 25 years later, the story continues. BNP Paribas remains true to its roots while embracing transformation with purpose. The journey goes on — and it’s written with all of us. Africa Week: A Journey Through Heritage, Culture, and Connection 🌍 This week, our teams across the globe came together to celebrate #AfricaWeek, an opportunity to honor #AfricaDay and reflect on the global cultural legacy of African and Afro-descendant communities. From Lisbon to Brussels, New York to Paris, each initiative showcased a distinct and powerful expression of this shared heritage: The week began with an online book club hosted by a Portuguese translator and founder of Portugal’s first anti-racism book club. The session offered a space for thoughtful dialogue on identity, literature, and storytelling. In the U.S., a group of colleagues were invited to participate in a special Black History Tour sponsored by BNP Paribas USD Clearing & Payments at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, an insightful experience around history, representation and the contribution of people of African descent to the UN mission and international diplomacy. In Portugal, a film screening and Q&A with the producer sparked reflection on African cinema. Later that week, colleagues organized an African market in one of our building lobbies and hosted a Live Desk concert featuring an African artist. In Belgium, team members explored the exhibition When We See Us, a kaleidoscope of Black figurative painting from the 1920s to the present day. In France, colleagues visited the Centre Pompidou for the exhibition Paris Noir (Black Paris) - retracing the presence and influence of Black artists in France from the 1950s to 2000. The exhibition celebrates 150 artists coming from Africa, the Americas and the Carribean. These events were coordinated by passionate employees who are part of CulturALL by BNP Paribas, a group that connects various local BNP Paribas employee networks on an international level, with the aim of fostering an equitable and inclusive environment where employees from diverse ethno-cultural backgrounds can thrive. Africa Week offered a moment to listen, discover, and connect across cultures. Through these shared experiences, a broader vision continues to emerge, one where openness and understanding are key to moving forward together. Sofia Merlo Caroline Courtin Isabelle Loc
