The B₊labs B₊ook Club, led by lab manager Isaiah Alvarez, has become a monthly meetup where residents connect over good books and great conversation. Each month, the group selects a new read and gathers to reflect, share, and learn from one another. It’s a simple yet meaningful way to strengthen our community and take a thoughtful break from the lab. Thank you to Thermo Fisher Scientific for sponsoring lunch each month and supporting this growing tradition!

Last night, the WIB-Philadelphia Metro chapter hosted an incredible Cocktail Workshop & Networking Event, bringing together professionals from across the life sciences. We were proud to support the evening by helping secure the beautiful Avira space, in partnership with Brandywine Realty Trust. Fostering an equitable and inclusive life sciences community takes collaboration and intention. Big thanks to Women In Bio - Engage. Educate. Empower. for the work they do to strengthen and grow the biotech ecosystem.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Heights Philadelphia Summer BEAM students to B₊labs this July for an inspiring day of career exploration and hands-on STEM fun! A huge thank you to Emanuel Ortiz from Pristinology for bringing his germ-detecting experiment back by popular demand and to all of our incredible residents who took time out of their day to speak with the students and share their journeys. CYTO | PHL generously shared their space, helping make this experience possible for the next generation of life science leaders.

The B₊labs team had so much fun at Life Science Cares Philadelphia Bases & Breakthroughs event yesterday! The celebration brought Philly’s life sciences community together for an evening full of connection, purpose, and team spirit. We kicked things off with a pregame party at the Navy Yard before heading to Citizens Bank Park to cheer on the Philadelphia Phillies. They may have lost in 11 innings, but the energy and community made it a win in our book. We’re proud to support Life Science Cares Philadelphia and their mission to build equitable pathways into the life sciences. Philly’s biotech community showed up strong, and we’re proud to be a part of it.

Thank you to everyone who attended our B+Blueberry Biotech Retreat at my family U-pick blueberry farm in the Poconos. It was great to see so many people from throughout the Philly Biotech community come together for a weekend of relaxation, fun, food, conversation and positive experiences. Enjoy this rendition of Bruce Levine's "Ring That Bell" B₊labs

The tradition continues! This past weekend, our community traded lab coats for camping gear at the 2nd Annual Biotech B₊lueberry Retreat at Bob Rovinsky’s family homestead, affectionately known as Bill’s Blueberries in the Poconos. With a classic clam bake, fresh blueberry waffles, and a live bluegrass band setting the soundtrack, residents, friends, and families came together for a weekend of great food, campfire hangs, and plenty of blueberry picking. What began as a simple summer getaway has quickly turned into a cherished tradition and a reminder that community is built just as much outside the lab as within it. Already counting down to next year!

Great study here by Nucleate on the importance of local capital: https://lnkd.in/eBag4cbQ Take note.

Today was such a great day as we welcomed a group of interns from The Baruch S. Blumberg Institute to our site. During their visit, they toured the site, connected with some of our resident companies, and even brainstormed what their own biotech startup could look like. It was inspiring to see them think big and start imagining their place in the world of science and innovation. Huge thank you to our residents for sharing their stories, to the interns for showing up with thoughtful questions and bold ideas, and to Montana McAlorum and W. Scott Willett for making this all possible! Ealden Lab
