🔒 A Milestone in Healthcare IT Security: We’re SOC 2 Type II Certified! 🔒 In healthcare IT, trust is paramount—and at Baton Health, safeguarding sensitive data is a responsibility we take seriously. We’re proud to announce that we’ve achieved SOC 2 Type II certification, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data security and operational excellence. This milestone is particularly meaningful given our journey. Last year, when we successfully defended against a targeted cyberattack, we shared the proactive investments we made to fortify our security infrastructure. That foundation not only protected our systems during that critical moment—it also set the stage for the rigorous SOC 2 process, ensuring our security practices are independently validated and continuously maintained. This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our team, whose diligence and expertise have strengthened both our infrastructure and the trust our clients place in us. As healthcare IT continues to evolve, our mission remains clear: to deliver innovative solutions that are as secure as they are transformative. 👉 Read more about the incident where Baton Health was targeted by hackers—and how our approach to security made all the difference: https://lnkd.in/eA-Fs7jM #HealthcareIT #Cybersecurity #SOC2 #HealthcareTech
✅ SOC 2 Wrapping up our SOC 2 certification was a huge milestone for Baton Health. Achieving this in a startup environment required a fresh approach — one that leaned on smart DevOps decisions made early on and a team that worked together really well. One of our biggest lessons was an old one — that the last 10% of the work takes 90% of the time. The final stretch of the audit took far longer than expected — not because of gaps in our security, but because we didn’t communicate what made our approach unique from day one. A key takeaway: Choosing the right auditor and clearly articulating what makes your company distinct upfront can save weeks of back-and-forth. Proud of the team for tackling this challenge head-on and setting a strong foundation for us to scale from!

In the rapidly evolving landscape of virtual healthcare, understanding the legal intricacies is paramount. A recent article by Nathaniel Lacktman in Fierce Healthcare highlights the potential legal challenges physicians may face when providing virtual second opinions (VSOs), particularly concerning state medical licensing requirements. Sidestepping these regulations can lead to serious repercussions, including claims of unlicensed practice of medicine. At Baton Health, we are committed to supporting healthcare providers in navigating these complexities. Our partnership with The Clinic by Cleveland Clinic exemplifies this dedication. By powering their license verification processes, we ensure that their network of over 3,500 specialists can deliver virtual second opinions confidently and compliantly. As the demand for virtual second opinions continues to grow, it’s crucial for healthcare organizations to prioritize compliance with state licensing laws. Implementing robust license verification systems not only safeguards against legal pitfalls but also upholds the standard of care patients deserve. Baton Health is proud to support the growth of telehealth responsibly, ensuring that innovation in patient care is matched with unwavering adherence to legal and ethical standards. #innovation #healthcarecredentialing #licenseverification #batonhealth
Chair of Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team at Foley & Lardner; Board Member at American Telemedicine Association
“The real risk of delivering virtual second opinions (VSOs) without following medical licensure rules is borne by the individual doctor rendering the VSO.” In most states, the unlicensed practice of medicine is a criminal offense, which means malpractice insurance may likely deny coverage. And if a doctor faces disciplinary action in a state where he or she is not licensed, the doctor may be required to report that to all the states where the doctor is licensed—and every one of those states will likely file reciprocal disciplinary actions like an unfortunate game of dominos. 😬 #telehealth #telemedicine #digitalhealth #secondopinions Foley & Lardner LLP American Telemedicine Association Center for Connected Health Policy

When Licensing Fails: The Hidden Dangers Behind Credentialing Bottlenecks A doctor trades drugs for sex with 11 patients—and still gets their license back. Shocking? Yes. Rare? Not as much as we’d like to think. In a recent Freakonomics podcast, law professor Rebecca Allensworth exposes how self-regulated boards—doctors overseeing doctors—often protect their own rather than the public. But it’s not just about dangerous professionals slipping through. Licensing requirements have ballooned, creating bottlenecks that delay provider onboarding and drive up healthcare costs. For example, in some states, it takes more supervised hours to become an alcohol and drug abuse counselor than it does to become a physician. Outdated systems slow down credentialing, but worse, they can keep good practitioners out and bad ones in. At Baton Health, we’re rethinking credentialing from the ground up—making it faster, more accurate, and less burdensome. Because in healthcare, credentialing isn’t just a formality—it’s a patient safety issue. The question is: How do we ensure we’re truly vetting providers and not just checking boxes? Delivering on promises isn’t just about meeting expectations—it’s about empowering those who rely on you. ✅ Jesse Corn, Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer at Zivian, highlights how Baton played a pivotal role in helping them stay true to their mission: “Baton helped us deliver on our promises to the clinicians we serve: to enable compliance with speed, precision, and confidence, so that they can stay focused on caring for patients.” 🏥 When technology enables healthcare professionals to focus less on compliance and more on patient care, everyone benefits. This is what happens when the right partnerships come together. 🤝 Grateful to see the impact Baton is having on organizations like Zivian—and ultimately, on the clinicians and patients they support. #HealthcareInnovation #ComplianceSolutions #HealthTech #Leadership
