The World's Best Medicine Begins With You.

About us

Two BJC HealthCare Hospitals, Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Progress West Hospital, are dedicated to St. Charles County. Together, we're bringing world-class care to our community. BJC HealthCare has ranked as one of the top workplaces among large employers in the seventh annual St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top Workplaces for 2018 program. BJC is one of 150 Greater St. Louis employers to receive the award and the only health care system to make the list. BARNES JEWISH ST. PETERS HOSPITAL Since 1980, we have proudly served the acute health care needs of St. Charles County. We’ve grown a lot in those 35 years, and it’s been our honor to watch your families grow along with us. As part of the BJC HealthCare family, we specialize in a broad range of services, which include emergency care, surgery, cardiology, pulmonology, women’s health, endoscopy and much more. Access to award-winning Siteman Cancer Center is also on our campus, just steps away from the hospital. Our friendly staff of almost 900 employees and more than 400 physicians consider themselves part of this community, making your best medicine close to home. PROGRESS WEST HOSPITAL Since we opened our doors in 2007, our goal has been to elevate your health care experience. Each member of our team embraces this philosophy—in fact, every member of our staff—doctors, nurses, lab technicians, imaging specialists, pharmacists and more are considered caregivers. It’s a way of thinking that inspires us to deliver the experiences you would expect at a hospital with progress in its name. To further support this level of care, we’ve joined with St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital to give our patients world-class care that’s backed by the resources and support that come with being a BJC HealthCare hospital. That’s how we can deliver your best medicine right here in St. Charles County. We approach medicine through a model of patient-centered care that allows everyone we treat to feel confident, secure and safe. Our broad range of services and specialties that include women and infant services, pediatric care, surgery, award-winning heart care and more will deliver on that promise every day.

  • Black History Month is here, and we’re celebrating across BJC Health System!✨ From meaningful discussions to community-building events, there’s something for everyone to get involved in. Senior consultant of our diversity, equity and inclusion team, Winston Wright, gives us an overview of the incredible events and initiatives happening across BJC. This month, we’re honoring the remarkable contributions of Black trailblazers while creating space for important conversations about inclusion, equity and unity.

  • Today, on National Holocaust Remembrance Day, we honor the memory of the millions of lives lost and the resilience of those who survived. This day calls on us to reflect, learn and commit to a world where understanding, compassion and justice prevail. At BJC Health System, we recognize the importance of remembering the past to build a more inclusive and equitable future. We are committed to creating spaces where diversity is valued, and every voice is heard. Let today serve as a reminder of the power of empathy and the strength found in community. Together, let’s continue to stand against hate and work towards a brighter tomorrow.

  • Congratulations to Emily Warden, PA-C, for being honored as our December Provider of the Month! Emily is a physician assistant hospitalist who has been on staff at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Progress West Hospital since 2019. Emily displays great teamwork by including staff, patients, and family members in care planning. She is always open to suggestions and seeks feedback to ensure each patient receives the best care. This openness and collaboration allows for all options to be explored and considered. Emily was recently recognized by a patient’s family for her effective communication about care plans, for which they were very grateful. Thank you, Emily, for your leadership and dedication to excellent patient care!
