People will come, Yall, People will come They’ll come to ATP for reasons they can’t even fathom. They’ll turn down Thurman Tanner to Flowery Branch, not knowing for sure why they’re doing it. They’ll arrive at Around The Pickle as innocent as children, longing for the past. “Of course, we won’t mind if you look around,” we’ll say. “It’s only twenty dollars per person drop in.” They’ll pass over the money without even thinking about it. For it is money they have and drops they lack. And they’ll walk out to the courts, and dink in shirt-sleeves on a perfect afternoon. They’ll find they have reserved a clinic on court 17, where they won their last league match hitting a smash on game point. And they’ll get better, sign up for the next Moneyball, and it’ll be as if they’d dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick, they’ll have to brush them away from their faces. The one constant through all the years, Yall, will be pickleball. North Georgia has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It’s been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and built up even again. But ATP will be where they share the time and make the memories. This facility, this game -- it’ll be part of our lives, Yall. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again.
