No Limits for Dakota: A Flight to Hope Meet Dakota, a fearless 14-year-old from Manns Harbor, NC, who battles Long Covid. His mom, Melinda, is a warrior in her own right—fighting every day to get him the care he needs, despite the challenges of navigating the healthcare and insurance systems. When the road to CHOP seemed overwhelming, Angel Flight East became their lifeline. Thanks to our amazing volunteer pilot, John, Dakota didn’t have to endure a 7-hour drive. Instead, he soared 375 miles to CHOP, getting one step closer to the care he needs. Angel Flight East at the 2025 City & State PA Healthcare Summit Last week, AFE Executive Director Ellen Williams and Board Member Mark Hass attended the 2025 City & State PA Healthcare Summit in Harrisburg, where more than 200 leaders gathered to discuss the future of healthcare in Pennsylvania. Our hearts are heavy as we extend our deepest condolences to all those affected by the tragic aviation incident in Northeast Philadelphia. We are especially heartbroken for the young patient, her mother, the dedicated medical crew, and the pilots who lost their lives. While this was not an Angel Flight East mission or pilot, our mission is rooted in compassionate air transportation, and we grieve alongside the aviation and medical communities. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, loved ones, and all impacted by this devastating loss. In addition, we express our most sincere gratitude for all the first responders who helped in this tragedy.
