👶 Intraoperative Hypotension in Obstetric Anesthesia: A Risk for Mothers and Babies IOH hypotension doesn’t just affect general surgical patients—it can jeopardize maternal and fetal health during cesarean deliveries. IOH is linked to nausea, unconsciousness, poor placental perfusion, and adverse neonatal outcomes like acidosis and neurologic injury. Join us this fall at the 2025 APSF Stoelting Conference, focused on maternal morbidity and mortality. Learn more at apsf.org → Events, and check out our Patient Safety Resources to learn more about IOH. #MaternalHealth #ObstetricAnesthesia #PatientSafety #CesareanDelivery #OBAnes

The Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation is the pioneer organization dedicated to patient safety in anesthesia care.
About us
The Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) is the pioneer organization dedicated to assuring patient safety. Formed in 1985 with the mission that "no patient shall be harmed from anesthesia," APSF has been the leader in the proactive, successful efforts to dramatically improve the safety of anesthesia administration and reduce adverse events. The Executive Committee of APSF believes that the reason for the success of its efforts has been its attention to early identification of safety problems, promoting research, disseminating information, and promoting an emphasis on patient safety in clinical practice. The APSF program has helped create a cadre of experts and a culture and infrastructure devoted to promoting safety. We believe that these and other influences on the profession of anesthesia, in particular the strong support of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and other anesthesia professional societies, have combined to produce our common goal: maximum safety for all patients undergoing anesthesia. We stand ready to assist others and are available for further discussion of these issues to shape the national agenda for patient safety. Our Vision That no patient shall be harmed by anesthesia. Mission Statement The APSF's Mission is to improve continually the safety of patients during anesthesia care by encouraging and conducting: safety research and education; patient safety programs and campaigns; national and international exchange of information and ideas.

📉 Intraoperative Hypotension: A Hidden Threat Nearly 1 in 9 Americans undergo surgery each year—and 88% experience intraoperative hypotension (IOH). Even brief episodes of low BP can harm the brain, heart, and kidneys, and increase hospital stays and mortality. Yet, intermittent BP monitoring often misses critical fluctuations. Studies show 1 in 3 patients experience ≥15 minutes of dangerously low BP, even during routine procedures. Can continuous BP monitoring help? Find out at apsf.org under Patient Safety Resources—and stay tuned for Part 2 of our series! #Anesthesiology #PatientSafety #ORMonitoring #IntraoperativeCare #PerioperativeMedicine #AnesthesiaEducation

Have administered almost all of these at some point. Have always been cautious about patient response and the need for close monitoring after administration.
Did you know that anesthesia professionals use vials as small as 1.4 inches, and the fonts, labels, and colors can change with each shipment? What #lookalikevials are you most concerned about accidentally swapping? Submit your alerts to our gallery! https://lnkd.in/drYd3nkJ
