At Ancestry we pride ourselves on helping people uncover their family history and make new discoveries. That’s why we are happy to have helped McDonald's’ Grimace go back into their family history and connect with Uncle O’Grimacey! Milkshake cheers to this special family reunion and the return of the Shamrock Shakes to raise some *green* for Ronald McDonald House Charities. https://lnkd.in/gY3XEGBF

Today in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 80th anniversary of Auschwitz's liberation, Ancestry opened its doors to the new Ancestry Research & Reflection Room at the Center for Jewish History (CJH), a new space and initiative to collect, preserve, and share the family histories of Jewish communities worldwide. “As we approach the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and recognize that the youngest Holocaust survivors are now in their 80s, preservation is more urgent than ever so that we never forget this history. We are deeply grateful to our partners at the Center for Jewish History for their shared commitment to honoring the histories of those who perished, as well as the survivors.” - Howard Hochhauser, Chief Operating Officer and incoming Chief Executive Officer at Ancestry. We welcome you to come and explore the space now through 2025. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gWg83Yai

Ancestry UK is on a mission to inspire families around the country to ask their elders meaningful questions about the lives they have lived. With just one fifth of UK adults admitting to having this kind of chat with their loved ones as little as once a year, we are encouraging people to carve out time to really find out what our parents and older relatives did when they were younger; starting conversations around their hopes dreams and greatest achievements have been, and in doing so capture the stories for future generations. Ancestry has partnered with care home network Barchester Healthcare Homes and TV’s Anna Richardson, whose own father is suffering from dementia. Ancestry experts recently visited a care home in Twickenham to help their residents get set up on Ancestry. A highlight of the day was finding a newspaper article in a 1958 edition of Kensington + Chelsea News featuring a resident who had an early career in acting and dance. With over 60 billion records and incredible resources such as newspapers.com Ancestry is a fantastic place to uncover our ancestors and living relatives’ stories. #WeAreAncestry

Ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, observed annually on January 27, Ancestry is proud to continue its commitment made in 2008 to preserve original documentation of the Holocaust and make it available for free so that future generations have access to first-hand evidence and accurate history. This year, Ancestry expands on that commitment with two new programs. Together with the Arolsen Archives, the world’s leading institution for Holocaust documentation, Ancestry has expanded its Holocaust-related resources by adding five new collections, including more than 7.5 million records documenting the persecution and internment of individuals in concentration camps, extermination camps, prisons, and other detention sites during the Nazi regime. In partnership with the Center for Jewish History (CJH), Ancestry is proud to announce the opening of the Ancestry Research & Reflection Room, a dedicated space where visitors can explore and preserve Jewish family histories. Opening to the public on January 27, 2025, this space will debut alongside the new Anne Frank The Exhibition by the Anne Frank House. When I joined Ancestry in 2021, I knew our mission and product was meaningful, but I could not have imagined how deeply personal it would become. After four years, I’m closing this chapter of my journey and stepping down as CEO knowing that I’ve played a part in writing Ancestry’s story. Every day at Ancestry we help millions of people learn more about who they are and where they come from. There was rarely a meeting, flight, or event where someone didn't share how Ancestry changed their lives. These stories remain some of my most treasured memories of being a part of Ancestry. Hearing how the work we did each day touched someone's life is one of the most wonderful parts of what I did. During my tenure, we've grown to connect over 27 million people through our DNA network. We revolutionized our platform with the dynamic homepage, launched ProTools, completed our largest ethnicity update ever, and added billions of records from Newspapers.com. Our community contributed over a billion pieces of their own family content this last year alone. Behind each of these numbers are countless personal discoveries, connections made, and stories preserved for future generations. This role became especially meaningful when I lost my mother and both in-laws during my time here. As my mom was in hospice, I worked to scan my mother's photos and capture her memories to preserve them in our database. I experienced firsthand the profound importance of capturing these stories before they're lost to time. In those moments, I wasn't just a CEO—I was a daughter, trying to ensure my children would someday know their grandmother's story. The magic of Ancestry lies not just in our technology or vast records, but in the passionate team who show up every day believing in our mission. I've had the privilege of breaking bread with hundreds of team members during our monthly dinners, hearing their ideas and dreams for making family history more accessible to all. Many of those dreams have become reality, and many more will come under Howard Hochhauser's leadership as CEO. While my role at Ancestry is ending, my connection to our mission never will. Every time I look at my mother's photos, now preserved for my children and their children, I'm reminded that we're all part of the story of human connection. Ancestry isn't just about discovering the past—it's about understanding who we are, where we come from, and perhaps most importantly, what legacy we'll leave for those to come. To our customers, employees, and partners: thank you for letting me be part of your stories. The next chapter of Ancestry's journey is bright, and I'll always be grateful to have played a small part in helping people discover, preserve, and craft the stories that connect us all. #Ancestry #FamilyHistory #Gratitude #Legacy
