Wondering about the value of the #PDCSummit Student Challenge, or where the student end up? It has been a full circle experience for our Nursing Institute for Healthcare Design (NIHD) Board Member Elizabeth Johnson, PhD, MS-CRM, RN. Liz (pictured third from right) participated in the 2019 challenge as a PhD Nursing student, and it sparked her love for design education, advocacy, and training. Now in her role as Assistant Professor at Montana State University-Bozeman Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing, she teaches interdisciplinary courses with engineering, nursing and dietetics students, and advises in the Montana State University-Bozeman: School of Architecture. Over the weekend, multidisciplinary teams of students from architecture, nursing, engineering and construction management backgrounds competed in the AIA/AAH & ASHE PDC Student Design Challenge™.     The teams, comprised of students from five universities, were challenged to expand one of the busiest emergency departments in the country to include:    ✔️ An expanded and focused Behavioral Health Emergency department.   ✔️ An EmPATH Behavioral Crisis Unit. ✔️ A shared set of resources to support patients, family and staff. ... in just 48 hours.   Visit the Exchange Lounge to view their projects! #PDCSummit is all about bringing interdisciplinary perspectives together and energizing the future of health care built environment field.    Congratulations to the winning team, Team Connectivity, and to everyone who participated! ASHE congratulates the winners of the 2025 Vista Awards!    Renovation: Tower 2 at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Merriam, Kan. AdventHealth enlisted h|d Architecture and McCarthy Building Companies to update the oldest building on the Shawnee Mission campus. Project representatives who attended to accept the award today include:  Jason Piper, AdventHealth  Greg Highbarger, LEED, AP, h | d Architecture Liz Greer, PE, Henderson Engineers  Josh Halvorsen, CHC, McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.   New Construction: MetroHealth’s The Glick Center in Cleveland.
