  • If you have these items in your pantry, you can follow a Mediterranean diet. This style of eating can play a big role in preventing heart disease, and new research has linked it with better brain health in Hispanic and Latino adults. A healthier brain can mean better memory and a lower risk for dementia, stroke and depression as we age. A Mediterranean diet emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts and seeds, with small amounts of dairy, fish and poultry. Olive oil is used for cooking.

  • Every year, about 10,000 people suffer cardiac arrest at work and 9 in 10 could survive if an AED is used within the first minute. But here's the problem. 🚨 More than half of employees can't even locate their workplace AED. AEDs save lives, but only if people know how and when to use them. That's where American Heart Association's research comes in. Your support fuels training, education and innovations that empower more people to act in a crisis. Help us close the gap and save more lives. ❤️ Click to spr.ly/6008N4ma0 act now.

  • Do you ever find yourself talking the talk when it comes to self-care, but not exactly walking the walk? This was the realization for our Connecticut Executive Director, Adria Giordano. As someone passionate about her work and our mission, Adria noticed she rarely paused to recharge. “I love what I do, but I don’t have an ‘off’ button,” she shared. “I wasn’t setting the best example for my daughters or my team.” So, she made a change. "I decided to create a list of what I could do to change this, and I knew I wanted to come up with a solution that could influence my team," she shares. Adria then started the "Team Connecticut Walk & Refresh Break"—a bi-monthly lunch walk to unplug, de-stress, and connect. The first walk was full of fresh air, meaningful conversation, laughter, and nearly 2 miles through a blooming rose garden. "Whether it’s a walk, meditation, reading something non-work-related, or just a moment of stillness, it matters and makes a difference in how you feel, both personally and professionally. I am still learning how to do this in my everyday life, but this day was a win!" On this #InternationalSelfCareDay, we recognize self-care isn’t selfish—it’s essential to #TheAHALife. We’re proud to see leaders like Adria making space for mental health, and one step at a time, we’re walking the walk together. 🌹

  • For American Heart Association staff member Darryl, fighting heart disease is personal. In August 2020, Darryl’s cousin JR went into sudden cardiac arrest and didn’t survive. There was no warning. No second chance. But your support can help make sure stories like JR’s don’t happen again. You can help provide education, training, research, and interventions that save lives. Since 1924, we’ve cut heart disease deaths by 50%. With your help, we can go even further. For a few days only, your gift will go 3X as far thanks to a triple match. Let's make even more progress together at spr.ly/6008N4ma0.
