Last weekend was #InternationalWomensDay, and March 18 marks American Express’ 175th Anniversary. So, this #TeamAmex Tuesday, it felt fitting to feature Virginia, who reflects on how Amex has always had her back, particularly with our parental leave benefit 40 years ago: I'm Virginia, I’m a Benefits Operations Manager and I've been with Amex since 1982. When I was expecting my daughter in 1985, the U.S. Family and Medical Leave Act did not exist, and many women had to choose between starting a family and keeping their jobs. Of course, Amex was ahead of its time. They offered mothers eight weeks of paid maternity leave with a job guarantee, which back then was very rare. As my family’s breadwinner, having this support and security gave me confidence during such an important life moment. Fast forward to 35 years later, I was on the team that helped support the launch of our U.S. parental leave policy, which now offers 20 weeks paid leave to eligible mothers and fathers, including adoption or surrogacy. We talk about ‘powerful backing for our Card Members and customers’ a lot at Amex, but I’m most proud of how well this company provides powerful backing to its colleagues. It reminds me why I've called Amex home for so long. Looking back on my 42 years here, I see a company that's never stopped growing to meet its colleagues' needs. I'm grateful to have built my career at Amex! Find your place on #TeamAmex. Explore open roles here: https://lnkd.in/eJPA7P-8. American Express reposted this
This month brings two important celebrations: Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. These moments provide an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable contributions and achievements of women throughout history and learn from the different experiences and perspectives of our women colleagues. Together with our Women’s Interest Colleague Network we’re hosting special programs and events at American Express to help us do just that. I’m excited for colleagues to have the opportunity to come together throughout the month as we continue to ensure all colleagues are seen, heard, and feel like they belong on #TeamAmex

When Hurricanes Helene and Milton devastated the Southeastern U.S. last fall, we joined forces with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to support small businesses and their communities on their road to recovery. Since launching the Small Business Hurricane Recovery grant program, we’ve committed $10 million to help 2,000 impacted small businesses, like Mastry’s Brewing Company in St. Pete Beach, Florida, on their road to recovery. Watch this video and learn more about the program with stories from our grantees: https://lnkd.in/esmuyAqT

Earlier this month, #TeamAmex joined Cycle for Survival in NYC to help raise money for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to enable doctors and scientists to pursue bold ideas that continue to transform how rare cancers are diagnosed and treated. A huge thank you to the colleagues who rallied together to ride for such an important cause – including our hosts, Anna Marrs, Nicole Hildebrandt and Tammy Yee – this is what the powerful backing of American Express is all about.

Happy #TeamAmex Tuesday! Today, Chavonique from Phoenix shares how Amex helped her entire family heal after experiencing loss: I'm Chavonique, a Manager in Global Talent, Leadership & Learning, and I've been with Amex since 2014. When my family experienced an unexpected loss, I was so grateful that Amex’s Bereavement Policy provided me with paid leave to grieve and spend time with my family. That's when I looked into our Healthy Minds benefit, which gave me and each member of my household access to free therapy. Along with having a safe space to talk about our feelings with licensed counselors, we each got personalized support, tools to cope with our grief, and strategies to manage the financial stress that came with our loss. This support brought my family closer together and helped us find peace during an incredibly challenging time. I'm forever grateful to be part of Team Amex, with such meaningful support through all of life’s challenges.
