  • What Do Elephants Have to Do with Agriculture? Article excerpts: On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the Colorado Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s dismissal of the Nonhuman Rights Project’s [NhRP] writ of habeas corpus claim on five elephants residing in the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. NhRP claimed the elephants were “unlawfully confined” and, therefore, fell within the bounds of the writ of habeas corpus. If courts in New York, California, or Colorado had determined that an elephant or any other zoo animal possessed personhood rights, the floodgate would open for future lawsuits. The anti-animal agriculture and animal rights activism wouldn’t stop there. Activist groups could sue dairies, feedlots, egg producers, pork producers, and even meat processing operations with claims that animals are being held unlawfully as “prisoners”.  NhRPs ultimate goal is the liberation of animals and the imposition of radical anti-animal ownership and animal agriculture laws by setting judicial precedents. Elephants are the low-hanging fruit setting the foundation for future attacks against animal owners. There is no doubt the NhRP will strike again, and the animal agriculture community must be vigilant and prepared to step in and help fight back. Our future depends on it. • Wolf Creek Freestall Floorplan This 5,000 cow free stall facility we designed and engineered for our clients is fully enclosed. Since the owners were concerned about air quality in all of the pens inside the barn, we utilized a tunnel vent system. A tunnel vent system provides ventilation over the length of the building, which equalizes the air over each pen due to the distance the air travels and provides similar air in every pen. #CowComfort #SmartDairy #DairyEngineering #DairyInnovation #FarmDesign #AGPROfessionals #DairyDesign #AgEngineering #WolfCreekDairy #AGPROfessionals #DairyFarm #FarmEfficiency #SmartAgriculture #AgSolutions #DairyFarmLife

  • Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission approves partial wolf compensation claims From an article in Colorado Politics by Marianne Goodland Article excerpts: “The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission on Wednesday unanimously approved two large claims related to the killing of livestock by wolves relocated to Colorado from Oregon in December, 2023. The claims paid were not paid in full, and a third claim never made it onto the agenda. Two of the three known claims came from two ranching operations in Grand County. The largest — for $422,000 — was from Conway Farrell. The commission approved, at the recommendation of staff, paying $287,000 and holding off, for now, on the rest of the claims. Travis Black, the northwest regional manager for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, said the agency and the Farrells reached an agreement on the larger amount in order to process a prompt payment. Another $112,000 is for missing animals. That amount is still being negotiated between the rancher and the state, according to Black. He didn't address the last $23,000 in claims.” Link: https://lnkd.in/dH3PFMpW

  • BOI Requirements Scrapped by Treasury Treasury Scraps Deadline and Penalties for Beneficial Ownership Information Rule From an article in Progressive Farmer by Chris Clayton Article excerpts: "The Trump administration has announced businesses such as farm operations will not face any penalties or fines for not filing Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) with the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Treasury officials released details on Sunday stating they will waive enforcement penalties and will not enforce the beneficial ownership information rule against U.S. citizens or domestic companies going forward. A new rule will be forthcoming. Treasury will further be issuing a proposed rulemaking that will narrow the scope of the rule to foreign reporting companies only, the department stated. "This is a victory for common sense," said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. "Today's action is part of President Trump's bold agenda to unleash American prosperity by reining in burdensome regulations, in particular for small businesses that are the backbone of the American economy." The BOI rule was expected to impact more than 32 million businesses and roughly 230,000 farm operations. The deadlines for filing business ownership information had been delayed multiple times in recent months because of court decisions."
