Anna Stukas and Ian Collier are back from a series of great events in Abu Dhabi, where the message was clear: the aviation industry is ready for large-scale infrastructure to take flight in the fight against emissions. That’s why bringing STRATOS—the world’s largest Direct Air Capture facility—online later this year is so important. As we push toward start-up, we’re excited about the role STRATOS will play in delivering solutions for this hard-to-abate sector. What does 500,000 tonnes of CO2 look like in comparison to these iconic landmarks? This is just what STRATOS, the world's largest Direct Air Capture facility, will be able to remove once fully operational, but we need gigatons of CO2 removed from the atmosphere. The urgency to reduce and remove has never been greater and we must do so at climate relevant scale to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Around 50 years ago, water treatment and catalytic converters became mandatory in the U.S., and recycling – while still not mandatory – began to gain traction in cities across the country. These environmental efforts faced pushback and skepticism when first introduced and today, are accepted as essential for sustainability and our well-being. Change is challenging, but we’ve done this before. History reminds us that it’s possible to shift mindsets and introduce new ideas, and technologies like Direct Air Capture, for a better future.

Everything has a carbon footprint – food, travel, products, and our homes. Energy use, heating, cooling, and everyday activities all contribute to emissions, building our individual carbon footprints. While the world continues to build a lower-carbon future, we can adapt how we live and make purchases, implement some sustainable practices on the home-front and more. To start, here are a few recommendations on how to take action at home. And, if you're curious, check out the link below to the EPA's carbon footprint calculator to get an estimate on yours. Taking climate action isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s the smart thing to do. https://bit.ly/4hvR3dd
