Meaningful Use Stage 3 Reporting for Physicians and Eligible Providers
The Kentucky Cancer Registry (KCR) is ready to receive cancer data electronically from all interested providers who diagnose or treat cancer patients.
Beginning January 1, 2017, KCR will accept data for Meaningful Use Stage 3, Measure 4, “Public Health Registry Reporting”. Reporting technology must be certified under the 2015 Edition Certified Electronic Health Record Technology (CEHRT) standard. The actual reports transmitted must conform to HL7 CDA® Release 2 Implementation Guide: Reporting to Public Health Cancer Registries from Ambulatory Healthcare Providers, Release 1; DSTU Release 1.1, U.S. Realm(April 2015). Under the Stage 3 Meaningful Use rules, only eligible providers (not hospitals) can qualify for this measure, which will count as one of the two minimum measures such providers must meet under Stage 3 Meaningful Use Objective 8, “Public Health and Clinical Data Registry Reporting”.
As with Stage 2 reporting, our efforts are coordinated with the Kentucky Health Information Exchange (KHIE) and the Kentucky Regional Extension Center (KY-REC) who offer additional services in support of meaningful use objectives.
We are continuing to accept cancer reports pursuant to the Meaningful Use Stage 2 option of physician cancer reporting from a certified electronic health record (EHR) system. This uses the 2014 CEHRT standards and requires data transmissions conforming to the Implementation Guide for Ambulatory Healthcare Provider Reporting to Central Cancer Registries, HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA), (August 2012). These reports will be accepted under Measure 3, “Specialized Registry Reporting”, for Modified Stage 2 Meaningful Use rules.
