The whole episode is a parody of the Russian New Year's Eve Shows which were broadcasted since the time of the USSR. This show reviewed events of the last year and introduced big heroes of the Soviet Union. The Mask Voloshin is putting on is the Face of Igor Kirillov, one of the legendary hosts of the show.

Goofs
The song "Tchip-Tchip", also known as the Duck dance, is credited as a french folk song. However while it became a classic, it is originally from Switzerland and it was written by Werner Thomas in 1957, so it is not really a traditional folk song.

Crazy credits
Before the opening Nemzov and Anatoli Chubays are smoking in front of the Ostankino tower and greet Yelzin, dressed as Santa Claus.
