Cobb Goes Fishing

Irvin S. Cobb and Grantland Rice talk about fishing, and demonstrate how they fish in this silent short subject. Unfortunately for any words of wisdom they offer, there was no sign of titles or soundtrack.

Grantland Rice was a well known sports writer of the era, who extended his work into producing and starring in shorts about all sorts of sports. Irvin S. Cobb was a writer who became a personality of the era as a sort of cracker barrel southern wit; when Will Rogers died, he was tried out as a replacement for Rogers, and failed to excite anyone much.

Together they try to convince their audience is a sport. While some forms of it look like they could be, sitting in a boat and dangling lines into the water doesn't strike me as such.
