Too much talking and no story

I give these free Youtube movies a fair chance. Some of them have been good while some of them are dry as bad.

This movie is about a doctor trying some pill on women.

All this movie contains is sitting and talking. Sitting and talking. It felt like the shows like The View or The Talk.

An hour and a half of boring.

What Can be learned? If you want to make a movie have less sit around dialogue.

    Verdict: Very Boring.

It was the story line for me

I enjoyed the actors, love Mikal Ford (may he be resting in peace). The story touched on a lot of real instances for many people and not sure if there is any drug that alters the 3 parts of the ego, but that was ideal in the since to want to be your better self. Side note: it was in the approval state of FDA approval- Anyway, I would recommend this movie to those that, if they want to be honest with themselves, to look and reflect to want to CHOOSE to be better. We know too many people like those portrayed characters. The acting was good, the storyline could be relatable for some and hopefully it can be education to some as well.

    Very amateurish production...

Stumbling upon the 2016 movie "Addiction by Subtraction" by random chance here in 2025, I opted to watch it on account of it being a movie that I had never heard about, much less ever watched. Truth be told, I anticipated that this movie was a movie from Maverick Entertainment based on the cover alone. Lo and behold, my expectation was correct when I saw that ethereal horse galloping across the screen.

Sure, Maverick Entertainment is mostly known for their shoddy, amateurish and overly stereotypical movies, but every now and again they do put out something that is surprisingly in a whole different league that their usual rubbish. So on an off-beat chance that "Addiction by Subtraction" would be such a movie, I sat down to watch director Greg Galloway's 2016 movie.

But this movie was not one such movie. Sure, it wasn't one of the archetypical and overly stereotypical movies that they usually produce, but it was quite far from being a good movie as well.

Writers Greg Galloway and Jewel Younge didn't exactly put together a stellar script and storyline.

I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, which is usually something I enjoy when watching a movie. But it just didn't really work out in this movie, as everything in it was way too low key and amateurish.

The camera angles in the movie were frustratingly bad and made the movie stand off as a movie filmed with a home video camcorder and edited in someone's parent's basement. It was amateurish and low budget.

The movie is lacking greatly in the lighting department. Many of the scenes are frustratingly dark. And the sound in the movie was all over the place, again, very amateurish.

"Addiction by Subtraction" is not really worth the 91 minutes it runs for. Some of us suffered through this movie, so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.

My rating of director Greg Galloway's 2016 movie "Addiction by Subtraction" lands on a very generous two out of ten stars.
