    What a Disaster!

With the revealtion of Leaper X in the previous instalment. Ben Song leaps in to San Francisco of 1989. Just before a earthquake struck.

He is in the body of John Harvey whose marriage is breaking up. His son has run off after overhearing his mother talking about marital issues.

When the earthquake hits he needs to save his wife who is a medic. Then to find his son who has gone missing.

The trauma also brings back memories of Ben's own issues as a child with his mother who died of a brain aneurysm.

So a lot of domestic issues at play as well as peril caused by the earthquake.

Meanwhile back at base Magic has to get to the bottom of Leaper X. They have a suspect but he could become the leaper in the future.

I still find the story of the week to be tepid. The issues regarding Leaper X might emerge as the central arc for the rest of the series. That certainly was more interesting and has potential for some twists.

    I like Ian

I was saddened to see a reviewer single out the character of Ian as a reason to stop watching this show. How short sighted. Ian is fascinating to watch and a very intelligent actor. I'm a 60+ gramma who can appreciate new persona and this actor certainly brings a new take on a character. We need to be more open to new ideas.

I was a big fan of Scott Bakula and I did not want to like this remake but I do. And I find Ian to be very enjoyable to watch. Bravo for a new fresh take on a fan favorite show. I have just binge watched this and hope we can see more new episodes once the writers strike is over and we can get a new season underway.

Starting to get better and better

I was a fan of the original Quantum Leap, when i heard about the new show i thought they would ruin it, but so far so good, took a while to get in gear, Magic needs more "magic", Ian and Jenn make a good team, Ben is getting better at his role and replacing Scott Bakula is not an easy task, Addison bashing the handlink seems "way to forced" Stockwell was the only one that did it properly and feels unnatural to have her do the same, the old handlink looks better, old manerisms from the "old" quantum leap are welcomed but cant feel forced or unnatural, great episode (took 14 years to write my first review on imdb lol)

The reboot's best episode so far!

This episode brings back a lot of what's been missing in this Quantum Leap reboot. It combines sentimentality with action, drama and mystery. We learn more about our protagonist's past during his attempt to help a young stranger in the midst of a natural disaster.

This should've remained the pilot episode in my opinion. It sets the tone for the series and brings back a lot of the feelings I had while watching the original series. I hope that others will watch this episode and see the possibilities that this show can become.

The writers did a great job of infusing this episode with just enough info to create some twists and turns to keep this series going. I just hope that it's able to get to its full potential.

Originally filmed as the series pilot. The decision was later made to move it further back into the season, requiring additional reshoots and editing to fit its new place in the season's story arc.
    • Goofs
At the end of the episode Ben calls his mom in NYC in 1989. In the episode Addison said that he came to America from Korea when he was about 9. If Ben is the about the same age Raymond Lee who plays him is than in 1989 they would still be living in Korea.
